Hey, Id been riding for about 30 mins on a 35'C dayin heavy traffic, bike was burnin my ass infact, and i notice the oil light was on. is the oil light only for oil pressure or is there a temp switch on it too? after lettin it sit for about an hour i started it up and light was out. I was lucky it came on maybe 100m from home, but am hesitant in takin it out again incase i am much further next time. any body have anything like this happen and any thoughts? |

i had an issue like that one time, checked the oil level, checked that it was being pumped, no lifter noise, tested the pressure switch, nothing and it never happened again? maybe there was an air bubble or something in or around the switch. Had a bike layed over one time that when cranked back up had no pressure and major lifter noise. took out the pressure switch and turned the motor over til oil puked and all was well. |

Could wheelies be a possible reason for getting an air bubble or causin this? as there may have been a few in quick succession just prior to noticing it? |

I have an oil pressure problem on my 06 xb9sx the light came on just up the street from home. I have 18k miles on the bike i change the oil every 3k mile. I pulled oil switch had a trickle of oil come out while running replaced switch light was still on i put a gauge on to check pressure it doest have enough to register. Think it mite be the pump i took it apart but everything looked good but I did'nt have the tool to measure spacing inside the pump. Anyone had oil pump problems ???? |
