just picked myself up a 2003 buell blast.

my headlamp and tail light work just fine.

i dont get anything from the turn signals.

checked all my fuses, they are good
bought a new electronic flasher
replaced every bulb
switch on handlebars look good

p.s. the turn signals look aftermarket

i disconnected every signal and hooked the leads up to 9v battery and they all lite up

please help me out here. im fed up with it.

I have no idea of the wiring for a Blast (and I don't have a circuit diagram at hand to comment) but I just recently had the same symptom with my '06 Uly - that turned out to be a broken ground wire from the flasher unit. On the Uly that wire runs from the flasher unit behind the fly screen to an earth point on the steering so is a wire that gets flexed all the time.
Probably a long shot but you need to check that the flasher is getting power and a ground connection - both things are common to all of the blinkers.
Failing that, one other common point is the wire from the blinker unit to the handlebar blinker switch.

I would go for the ground but you are close it sounds like. I don't have a Blast manual either and am going off a 2000 M2 manual. Do you have gauge lights?

still no luck, the ground looks solid. i have disconnected the back harness all together. the story when i bought the bike was that the original owner cut the tail off and relocated the lights, before selling it they reinstalled the tail and put the lights back. the front lights supposely worked before the rear was put back on. in kansas you dont need blinkers.

does anyone know if the blast had running lights. the turn signals are obviously aftermarket lights. we are thinking maybe they didnt get the correct part.

i also just tried hooking a voltmeter to the connection were the flasher connects to.

im not 100 percent sure if i hooke dit up right, but i didnt get anything.

i hooked the black probe into the connection with the black wire and tried the red probe in the other two slots, nothing.

but then again i didnt have the signal turned on, that might be a problem, lol.

ok this is what im getting so far.

i got power going from the source to the flasher, according to voltmeter.

but after that my power is gone. i dont get any activity on the voltmeter except when i find the power for the brake and or headlight.

im not sure which wires to hit on the switch to know if i got power to the switch, i did however rebuild the switch. it does look a little worn on the contacts but it does have a good click to it.

any good info would be appreciated. im not looking for someone to hold my hand or do the work for me. i bought this bike to learn, but electricity is the one thing in life i avoided.

if there is power on the battery side, and a good ground connection to the flasher, i believe that you should have a clicking sound at the flasher when you hit the signal switch. if you don't, there is a bad switch or an interrupted path between the switch and the flasher.

you can use your multimeter to check for continuity and/or shorts to ground.

if you are already lost, you need SOMEONE who gets electrical stuff to help you so that things don't get worse.

after this is resolved, GET A SERVICE MANUAL !!!

thanks for the help.

but yeah i made things worse.

the wire harness on this bike is so poorly designed that im saying the hell with it, and ripped it all out.

since im chopping the bike out anyhow, i figure i will eventually need to do this.

plus it will be a month or so before i can legally ride this bike again. damn people and signing titles and never registering it.
