hello from BEIJING China, my 1998 S-1 White Lightning just had a oil line to the oil tank break. looking at my trusty Parts Catalog, (page 67) there is no part # for the “L” piece that enters into the oil tank (three of them). there is a grommet that secures the “L” piece to the oil tank. this broke off & fell into tank.

anybody seen this ? any known fixes (or Part # ???) thanks very much

No, but I have an old oil tank sitting in my shed. Send an address and I'll pull off a grommet and send it your way. Better specify which particular fitting you need. Though I doubt it, they may differ.

You have a Buell in China? Too cool!

fittings ARE different, I'm thinkin . . .. .feed and return seem to be 3/8, vent seems to be 1/4 (all reference ID)

I've got some as well . . .let us know zactly what you need

thanks for the feedback guys. the vent hose grommet split in half, loosening the vent hose, I found 1/2 the grommet in the tank, and the vent hose not secured. then heard from BUELL, they do not sell the grommets seperate (gotta buy the whole oil tank assembly)

Logo,

Go to rubber shop and buy a piece of solid round.
Have a friendly machine shop lathe the round bar into correct shape. Small job. You can even use tighter tolerances to make the grommet stick well.
Shame that Buell requires you to buy a new tank.

Rgds, Renter (exploring Singapore, no Buells seen yet)

Blake, thanks for that offer. but I "bit the bullet" & bought the complete oil tank. I needed a variety of small stuff anyway, so I figured, go ahead & spend the extra $110 & got an oil tank/
also, Renter, that is a good idea too. is a very simple grommet that split, should be able to make one
I found a place for low cost Harley/ BUELL parts:

Lago,
We have a topic just for pictures called "Cool Buell Pics." Or if your pics comprise more of a theme or story, create a new topic in the "Tale Section" and post your own tale of Buell in China. If you haven't yet, please take advantage of the various "search" options the forum offers, especially useful for regular browsing of new content on the site is the option to search for "Messages since I last searched for new messages:".

And FYI, the site has two Buell dealer sponsors that provide BadWeBers discounted OEM parts and accessories as well as aftermarket performance parts and other good stuff, Iowa HD/Buell (Buell Cycle Center) and Tilley's HD/Buell.

I'll sure be looking forward to your Buell in China story. Sounds very interesting already.
