Is my starter whining or is it just me? I checked the knowledge vault and ran a search for starter issues and here I am. I followed my manuel with voltage checks from battery through relays and switches - all o.k. I pulled the starter/solonoid and did a bench check - solonoid good; starter not so good. HD wants $375 for starter/soloniod combo. Is it worth finding an alternator/starter shop for repair, or should I just bite the bullet. I defer to sharper minds than my own.

I bought a rebuilt one from a factory housing for about 100 bucks on Ebay a couple months ago. (with a 90 day warrantee) Or get an after market from one of the sponsors here. 375 WOW.

Buell_bert - Thanks for the input. I dropped my starter off this afternoon, at a local repair shop. The rebuild will cost $95 plus tax and be ready tomorrow...much better than HD. Thanks again. Al
