I have a 07 XB12Ss with a D&D exhaust. I was rideing it the other day and when I decelerated it back fired a couple of times and it shut the engine off. I took it to the dealership and this happened the whole way up there. The next day they said it was just deceleration pop and that it did not turn off the bike for them. I told them that they needed to ride it for like 15 miles before it would start to do it, not the 2 miles that they tested it out for. Any how I do not know if it is the new pipe I have, even though it has been on the bike for almost 4 months. Does any body have any knowledge on this issue? |

The engine will shut down if the temp gets too high. Perhaps the new pipe has leaned out the mixture too much and the backfire finally gets the head temp high enough to shut the engine down? Have you re-mapped the fuel table with the aftermarket pipe? Al at American Sport Bike could help you out there. |
