check your codes again. here is the code list and its goign to blink 6 fast then it will blink the first code

BUELL XB TROUBLE CODE LIST
CODE COMPONENT TO TEST
1-1 THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
1-3 EXHAUST OXYGEN SENSOR
1-4 ENGINE TEMP. SENSOR
1-5 INTAKE AIR TEMP. SENSOR
1-6 BATTERY VOLTAGE
2-1 EXHAUST SERVO (XB12 only)
2-3 #1 FUEL INJECTOR
2-4 #1 IGNITION COIL
2-5 #2 IGNITION COIL
3-2 #2 FUEL INJECTOR
3-3 FUEL PUMP
3-5 TACHOMETER
3-6 COOLING FAN
4-4 BANK ANGLE SENSOR
5-6 CAM POSITION SENSOR
Caution: Do not operate vehicle with
Access tool Installed

If you have a continuous lit code, you can find out what is wrong:

1) Go to the connector where you plug DL in on the bike. Looking
into the face of the rectangular connector, you'll see four pins. With
the latch on the top of the rectangle, short the two right pins together
and then turn the key on with the bike in neutral and the kill switch in
the run position.
2) The red light on the dash will blink out numbers....first 6 fast
flashes, then the first number, one per second, then a two second gap,
then the second number, one per second. If there is only one trouble
code, it'll then blink 6 times fast again and repeat the first trouble
code. If there is more than one trouble code, it'll blink the second
code out right after the first. You want to read the number several
times. A code 2-3 and a code 3-2 are different only where the two second
gap is. Tell me what number if flashes out.

this was all from AL at american sportbike

well my bike is still currently at ray prices in north carolina, but there tech guy brett called and asked me if i ran my bike with out the o2 sensor hooked up when i first installed the exhaust, and i couldnt remember but he said that would be why mine pooped the o2 code, but i know i reset that with the vdsts software, so if you ran your with that off at first, you might have to take it in and get your dtc's reset or get the ecmspy or vdsts software and cable and reset your dtc's. thats my two cents, i am not a buell mmi technician, i am a carb guy, this is the first fuel injection bike ever working on! and let me tell you carb is easier, but everyone says once it tuned with F.I. the performance is much better! and more reliable!

im not sure about the unplug the battery thing. i can email you an electronic copy of the buell 03 xb9r service manual if you like and see if it says anything in there? im not sure if it would pull the front tire off the ground in first before i did the mods as i am new to sportbikes and was still getting the hang of things as im a carb harley guy. but after the mods when i was trying to get everything tuned i pulled it off the ground in a fast gear switch to second gear. so hopefully by the time brett is done tuning it it will be strong as shit and really move!

im uploading the books to 4shared right now, i will send you a download link as soon as they finish uploading. one is the 2003 xb9r service manual and the other is the 2003 xb9r parts manual.

ive done the following to my bike:
micron full exhaust, jet ceramic coated on my headers, americansportbike open air box kit, k&n filter, catch can, axle sliders, buell frame pucks, technoresearch ecm tuning/ dyno tuning, led turn signals, im still considering doing the 1050 kit or case boring and doing a 1200 kit. that all depends on the cost of case boring and finding a repitable shop to perform case boring but that will be a winter thing, i might do my 04 sporty first on big boring it.
