I know that all of the other centerline relationships arrive from this figure: steering head, belt/chain line, etc. I don't have a Sporty to compare them with. Anyone have any idea? Its' for a weird frame project- don't ask, suffice it to say that it is for a lower, leaner Buell-like project with larger diameter wheels but definitely not a Sportster or entirely a Buell either, although many Buell-like mounting features will be incorporated. Kind of retro cafe. Engine center line in relation to wheel center line?

The wheel center line is easy enough to measure given that wheels are generally symmetrical but I don't follow what the significance of the engine center line is.

If you mean the center of its physical width or the center of mass or if it really matters.

It may not matter if the engine has to be positioned in a certain way so that the engine's drive sprocket lines up with the wheel's driven sprocket. But then if you are engineering the drive train, you could probably position those sprockets wherever you want within reason and not depend on the original engine's design.

Not much help, huh?

No, that's helpful, thanks.
