Close to 68 mi/hr in 5th most of the time?. Ok, it makes a lot of sense now, it is like highway riding. In my case is almost exclusively city riding with a number of traffic lights stops and rarely I get to 4th gear. The service guy at the dealership also told me that the gas mileage should improve some towards the 2K miles. Let's see.... |

I had mileage issues when my bike was new and sure enough the mileage improved after about 1200-1500 miles. |

Scottrt mentioned this, and I'm gonna mention it when i take it in for its first service; i have that flat spot in the powerband right over 4000rpm. it picks back up like normal right at 4500 though. havent ridden it any higher than 5000 since its still being broken in. that would be on an '08 City X. the XB12 i had before had ZERO problems like this, but it was an '04 and had several thousand miles on it. So far that's been the only concern i have with it though. Havent really paid much attention to the mileage though, but the trip odometer says 125 with the low fuel light on. havent done any math to get the exact number, but the XB12 i had was about the same. |

Last week I got my '08 XB12R (first bike). Has about 180 mi. and gets 20.5 mpg. What does this mean? |

Another reason for the good mileage may be the engine temp sensor is buggered. Mixture is all over the place if the fan and the glowing pipes are anything to go by. Stopped at night to wipe a particularly sticky bug from my visor and nearly didn't need the headlights as the glow from the exhaust was lighting the place up. |
