Hi everyone! thanks for taking the time to read this. My 05 xb12R is smoking from what looks like the headers, but I'm not 100% so heres the story. I'll point out that every morning before heading to work and leaving from work to go home I do a thoughrough check under the bike looking for leaks or oil on the ground. Changed my oil about 2 months ago. about 3 or 4 weeks later I was stopped at the light durring the day and noticed the oil light and white smoke. Got home, oil level was really low, almost 0. (there hasnt been any oil on the garge floor at work or home). So I topped of the oil and the smoke went away. Last wednesday night after a 35 mile ride to a friends house, heading home I noticed that white smoke again. Got home, oil was low again so I topped it off on friday after work (took the car to work). After topping off the oil I noticed a bit of smoking but not much. After a quick ride in the parking lot, no more smoke. Then, saturday morning I noticed the same smoking effect again so I left the bike in the garage for the weekend. On sunday I was suspecting that something was wrong with he breather hoses so I took of the airbox and velocity stack. The front breather grommet was broken and that explained the oil and crud all over the bike and probably the smoke, or so I thought. I replaced the breather grommet last night and fired up the bike this morning. After 3 min of running, smoke again!!! I'm scared to run the bike too long as I dont want to harm anything. Theres no oil light coming on, no engine light. So now that I know its not the breathing system, I'm at a loss what it could be. I'll try to take a video and post it tonight. hope this was detailed enough, if I can elaborate on anything, let me know. (Message edited by shaiss on September 06, 2007) |

I think oil and crud all over the bike would pretty much explain the smoke unless it's coming from the exhaust pipe outlet. Which is it? |
