My battery is giving up the ghost. I am getting a Battery Tender to finish the season but I want to buy a battery for next season. Who makes the best battery and for a reasonable price (less than $75) It only holds a charge for about 36 hours and then she won't start. She's fine if I ride her to work at least every other day, and don't try to start her in the morning, she wants no part of that.

The connects are clean, stator is up to par, battery test failed.

look in the yellow pages under Auto Electric. there should be a dc electric rebuilder nearby, who can sell you a good battery. the brand i carry and have had the best service from is Interstate, made in reading pennsylvania. you did not say which bike you need the battery for, but the buell takes a YTX14BS, around 70 bucks, the harley shop also carries a battery to fit the buell, just ask for a vrod battery, dont tell them about the buell or they may get confused. the HD version is also good quality, and the price is usually quite reasonable.

should warn you, if the battery is getting weak, you should consider replacing it NOW. a defective battery causes a LOT of stress to the starter, and the voltage regulator. get rid of it. dean

Alright bout the Everstart from Walmart, it is a tight fit. The BAD thing about this unit are the electrical hookups. Both positive and negative cables need have modified, longer, bolts or some other modifications at the connection to the battery. For the price, I'd just go with a stock HD battery if I had to do it again.

Also another issue at the terminals on the battery is because it is a universal battery the nut that you screw into is difficult to get in the correct position.

no need to shop for MOTORCYCLE parts at walmart. batteries, filters, wheel bearings etc. are all available down at the Harley store, and price for OEM parts is generally quite reasonable for the Buell models.

this list rocks. and is why i love badweb.

btw, current price on H-D battery in california is $99 at dudley perkins H-D/buell. for that, i might as well go OEM.

thx
