...which gets my 99 X1 intermittantly. This happens during cruising and/or acceleration (not decel popping), after the bike is thoroughly warmed up, and usually after a good 20+ miles of riding. Checked the intake, the seals are good, everything is buttoned up tight and it still happens. My bike is set-up with a V&H, forcewinder, race ecm, and stock headers that are wrapped. Usually it's around 4k rpm's when the backfire occurs.

Drives me nuts and scares the crap outta me and the guys I'm riding with when it happens. It's totally unexpected when it occurs.

Spark plugs/wires? Other? Recently did the rocker gaskets and inspected wiring harness and everything appeared okay. Checked again after new rear shock/mount was intstalled, everything is well grounded, no other wire rub-through that I can detect.

Being barely mechanically inclined and even worse with electric stuff this is becoming an issue with witch I have little patience.

Any thoughts are HIGHLY appreciated...
