I ditched the Dunlop 207rr's @2000 miles into ownership. I have been pleased with my Michelin Pilot Power's but am looking for a little more mileage out of the next set. 3000 miles on the front and it still looks new. The rear has @ 5000 miles and is nearly at the wear bars in the center. This tire is "squared off" pretty badly and leads me towards a more mileage oriented tire. Let me say while I have minimal (1/8 inch) chicken strips the flat spot has made me think I'm not riding hard enough to warrant the ultra-sticky rubber. Possibly the tire constantly being under load due to the tensioner causes harsher wear. I had the opportunity top buy a set of tires at "cost" so I opted for a whole new set. I chose to try the Pirelli Diablo Strada, I bought them sight unseen using only the info provided on the website.
I found myself at a friendly accessory shop today(they do not sell motorcycles, only accessories)and was able to see an array of tires next to each other. I set the 3 Pirelli Diablo rear tire versions next to each other and here is what I saw. the Diablo and Diablo corsa are the same height and appear to be the same profile. the Diablo Strada in comparison is shorter by about 3/4 inch and has a much steeper profile. The middle is built up and falls away in a more drastic angle than the other tires. The change in profile I easily accepted as I am searching for extended wear, it's the decreased height that has me thinking. How much will this change my suspension and steering characteristics? I understand this selection may leave me with less contact patch at mid lean angles, hopefully once leaned over the Strada will settle right in. I did not compare fronts because the tires are already purchased and on the way. I checked the Strada agaiinst a Mezteler Roadtec Z6 while I was there and found it to be about the same height and profile. Here's hoping for 10k miles. NUTS

I just used up my first pirelli strada rear tire.At 5000miles I could have gone another 1000miles,but was going on a trip & did not want to try and find a tire on my way(and I did not want to pay for installation)I was very happy with it.I had zero chicken strips & did some 400 mile high speed straight line riding too.The tire wore as even as could be expected.I have 2000 miles on my present strada & it looks almost new.
They will be slippery if not warmed up.But most tires do that.

Thanks for your response, this thread was posted here the 12 of December and received no hits until now. Someone posts the fruitiest question in the Quick Board and everyone chimes in. I'm trying to follow the rules here but sometimes... Can you tell I need to get those tires mounted and ride? Again, thanks and I'll be hoping for at least 7000 miles from the rear.NUTS

my XB12 got 6700 miles on rear Z6 , could have taken a nother thousand, but had a big weekend coming, so put on a fresh one.ran 1350 miles in 29 hours.
the Z6 is a damn good wet weather tire, no complaints at all. next up is a pair of Pirelli scorpion syncs, 'cause they look SO cool i just have to try 'em.

Just got a new Uly. I like a brisk ride thru the mountains on good blacktop, but I don't scrape pucks or bike parts. Any comments on tire selections?
