Quick question....

I know that both BMW & Ducati used the same headlight. But will any 7" round Bosch headlight work in my S1W? There are a number of them on ebay for VW & Porsche that are less than the Buell & BMW parts price.

Thanks!!!

Lake, on the S1W the headlight is not all one unit with a bulb stuck in it.

As far as I'm aware the shell itself is the same as Ducati Monster. I know this because Ducati Corse have an identical shell listed except it's made from carbon fiber. Priced over here at well over £100 last time I checked.

The lens is the only other part I know about. It's a Bosch item I believe from a BMW R75 model. The lens and reflector are held together with a rubber gasket. Once they are assembled they will or should remain together tight enough to fool the unsuspecting that they are made as a complete unit. This I understand is how HD \ Buell sell it and for around £150 last time I checked. If you know a Bosch dealer they should be able to supply you with the glass lens only. Less than £20 over here. If you look on the lens there's a number cast into the glass. I think it's ten digit. That's the number you need to quote to Bosch. This number is different in the UK from the US and some other countries because of the light dipping to the left or right side.

I don't know what exactly your needs are but if it is simply the lens and you are stuck sourcing one, let me know and I'll see if I can help. Last time I bought a lens was over three years ago. It was brought in special order from Germany but they first off sent a left hand drive one - hence that long number in the glass!
