Had an enjoyable ride through Hocking Hills today with the wife. Mapped out a new route for a group ride.

Saw a couple Buells along the way -- a little yellow Blast parked at Millstone BBQ when we stopped for lunch. Never did see the rider. Then an XB parked at Grandma Faye's on 374. Was sight blocked by a van turning in front of me, so didn't see it but for a second. Dark color XB with a "Buell" sticker on the bug screen.

Any riders we know?

And any interest in a Hocking Hills Twisty ride?

I'm down for the twisty ride as long as it doesn't clash with other events going on.

Very impressed with the Buell turn out at the races this past weekend. There were Buell bikes and Buell shirts pretty much everywhere I looked. Much better than last year. Back to Mississippi I go

I had the Uly XT sitting at the end of the entrance dividing strip Friday, then in front of the WitchKraft/STG racing pit Saturday and up in the upper corner of the middle paddock next to the Middletown Cycle trailer Sunday. How 'bout May and his excellent finish both Sat and Sun??

Hello fellow Buellers! I haven't been around much lately, but fear not, I am alive and riding mucho! I wanted to extend an invite to all COBRA members; I'm having a farewell party complete with a cookout and bon-fire at my place before my buddy and I head off for a month of riding to the top of Alaska and back. Whether or not we've met, come by to enjoy a good time! This is an open invite, so bring your non-cobra riding buddies or your significant others, it's all good. Just keep me posted (by PM or just by posting on here) if you think you might be able to make it, so I have a guess on the amount of food to be prepared. If you're on facebook, you can mark you planned attendance here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=122000397889927

Attached is a printable invite, you know, to attach to your fridge. Hope some of you can make it!

The wife and I will plan on being there to wish you safe travels Mike! Looking forward to some good stories and fantastic pictures when you return!

btw -- have you considered documenting the trip on advrider.com?

Sounds great! Looking forward to seeing you then!

I'll most definitely do a ride report on Advrider, but it won't be till after we're home, I'm not bringing an 'internet device' on the ride.

If all goes well, there will be a post trip party as well.

BOOTS:

I could use some input. I need to get a new pair of boots. I have a nice pair of Sidi Vertigo boots that I love and use for track days and light touring but being plastic they are downright uncomfortable for walking around. I always keep a second pair around (in addition to MX) for commuting and LD touring (where I will likely need to walk in addition to ride).

My real problem is that I have a WIDE foot. I need EE or EEE and most MC boots don't come in widths. i found two MC boots that are EE: Chippewa Rally Boots and Sidi Way Mega Rain Boots. The former look good and functional, but are not waterproof. The latter look kind of wimpy (cordura and fake leather) but are waterproof.

Anyone have personal experience with either? Other makes I have missed (Cruiserworks, my present commuter boot, is now out of business)? Suggestions? The reviews are excellent for both boots, so I am having a hard time making a decision...

I am finalizing a mid-summer twisty tour thrugh the Hocking Hills area that has turned out to be a lot more fun then I even anticipated! It is somewhat technical in spots -- on a scale of 1-5 I'd say it's a 4 in many spots. There's even a short rough portion that I think the Uly riders will really enjoy! :-)

I have the route starting and ending in Canal Winchester. Since there's really no fun way to get there out of Columbus we can all make our own way to that point. The route is about 130 miles with 3.5 hrs of riding, plus stops. I do have a couple short stops planned out for anyone that wants to take pictures and a break. I'm thinking we'll do a late lunch towards the end.

So I'm looking for some feedback on interest and suggestions on possible dates before firming this up.

Who's interested?

Welcome new member Aaron!! Lets RIDE!

MikeF, sounds like fun, I'll do my best to make it down. Thanks for the invite.

Buellman, no experience with either boot..Sorry.

Thump, Sounds great, I'm in. Other than Vintage Days this weekend, and the WV BuellRally, I'm pretty well open schedule. Love technical, and the rough sounds fun too. I'm down for whatever .

I was actually just looking at dates Neil. We've got Mike's Alaska farewall this Saturday and then the WVBR over the 19-21, so we could do one of the two weekends between them, or the weekend after.

So how does Saturday, Aug 6 look for those interested?

I plan to post up details this evening.

And yes Neil...you can be the sweeper with those pipes. :-)

Hey Ohio Guys!

Indianapolis Native here. I've met a couple of you at Mid-Ohio.

MotoGP is coming up around the corner and on that Friday, August 26, 2011, a buddy and I are going to have a huge BBQ prior to Motorcycles On Meridian. If any of you would like directions, please PM me here for an address. I'd love to get a ton of Buellers together for this!

I don't seem to be getting a lot of feedback on a ride date for Hocking Hills, so I'm just picking a date (and a backup rain date). I hope those that are interested but aren't speaking up can make it.

Sunday, August 7 @ 10am in the Kroger parking lot in Canal Winchester. Hopefully it's not just me and the wife, but if it is...we'll enjoy it just the same and you'll be missing out! :-)

Thanks for trying to get something planned. I wish I could make it over there for this one but because of end of summer plans we already have it is pretty difficult. I also need to get a bit more time in the saddle of my Uly to really learn how she handles in the curves before getting to adventuresome. If anybody has suggestions for quick rides around NE Cincy let me know. Thanks.

We actually just got back from Gatlinburg TN (family vacation), but I wasn’t able to bring the bike so the Dragon will have to wait.

I think the fact you got rid of your Buell is really more of a concern then bringing the Can-am...doh!

the dates always get bagged by family obligations, i can't make anything this month until the later part. I have a family reunion in cleveland on the 7th and my own whitewater rafting trip in WV on the rally dates. ugh. I never win.

Sorry you're going to miss it Neil, bummer.

I'm wondering if anyone in our group is planning on it though. Based on this year's poor turn-out for rides, I went ahead and opened it up to the Columbus Motorcycles Meet-up group too, with the disclaimer that fully dressed out Harley's and such may want to consider the fact that the route was put together for us "canyon curve carving" Buellers.

Anyone...anyone...???
