I think his dates are right... he put the whole weekend on his chart, but next to it, he noted if it was sunday or saturday. everything seems to be correct.

Yeah, I identified the weekends and then noted if the track was on Sunday or what. Most of them are.

I think there is a 100% chance of me doing something this weekend. I think I'll move all my chores to Saturday so I can have Sunday free.

The mural is around central and 2nd street I think.
What is this Turquoise loop? I know the turquoise trail, that's Hwy 14 right?
Debbie will be in town this weekend, we will probably be riding somewhere Sunday.

Kim, what are you going to be doing on Sunday? She will be bringing your helmet back...

I only get one day off this week and I have set it aside for fishing. No riding for fun this week.

As far as track days, I was looking at the regulations, and I don't think my bike or gear will pass inspection. My front wheel has a couple of dings along the outer rim and I don't have any protective pants.

Fox, Dings on the outer rim shouldnt be much of an issue. I know my 1125 has one from a rock that flung up, and it passed inspection. As long as they are minor, and not like "holy crap, what the **** did you do to your wheel!!!??" you should be fine. Otherwise, if you are running a stock bike, all you have to have is tape over your lights (headlights, tail, turn signals...or just remove them.) and of course you have to have the basics (no leaking, functional brakes, etc.)

If you were racing, you would have a lot more rules, but track days are fairly easy going. They have suits you can rent at the track...you have to get there early because they only have about 10 pair, and if you are normal sized, you shouldnt have a problem. My first time out there I had to rent some, and I looked like a sausage shoved into plastic tubing...but i'm 6'5" & 260 Lbs though

It's not just Turquoise Trail. There's a nice loop starting from my house (or meeting at McDonalds in Bernalillo).

550 west to San Ysidro. North on NM4 up through Jemez Springs to Valles Caldera. Continue on to Bandelier, White Rock, etc. Then down to Pojuaque and thru Santa Fe to NM 14 and back down via Madrid and the Crest. There's a bit of highway in it going from basically Los Alamos thru Santa Fe, but it's a good day ride, nice mileage, and good mountain roads on both ends.

We don't HAVE to do that one. I'm going to be off all day Sunday with nothing on the agenda except riding. Frankly, I don't care one bit where we go as long as we do.

I have done that loop before... it is nice riding... except for the highway parts, but they are short and help you get to the other twisties faster ; )

No likely we can make that "loop" Debbie's left hand gets cramped trying to operate the clutch on either of my Buells.
(She has a Mueller clutch arm on her XB) Can't reach the ground on the Suzuki, and the Honda is too heavy for her.
We might just do 14 and have lunch in Santa Fe, then come back on 14.
It's going to be windy on Sunday. : (

Google Maps has the Bernalillo/Jemez/Santa Fe "half" of the loop at 122 miles. The Albuquerque/Madrid/Santa Fe "half" is 74 miles. It's only marginally longer and it's not like we aren't stopping along the way. We take plenty of breaks and would still probably lunch in Santa Fe. I'm actually in the mood for Blue Corn, but would settle for anything reasonable.

Blue corn... I may have to ride to santa fe just to eat there later this week... Mmmm. I can probably spare the couple hours for some good NM food.

Sorry to say that I'm coaching an MSF class on sunday from 1-6. I might try to catch you all where ever you are meeting up just to say Hi before I run off to go teach.

Bart, I also have more mail for ya. So we need to meet and trade.

Kim, where's your class? Old DMV on I-25 in Albuquerque?

Doug, I don't see any reason why we couldn't make it a sure thing. It's a Saturday? I could do that. Do you think it requires us to stay overnight?

Nick: can you get that weekend off?

Its only a two hour ride for me to get there.I'll leave it up to you if you want to make it an overnight.I guess it really depends on how much of the area you want to see.

Not sure about the dates for Ruidoso/Cloudcroft...yet.

Also, be advised that much of the Sacramento mountain riding areas are about 9K feet altitude...cold, wet and potentially icy (even in April)

BTW: It takes about 4 hours to get from ABQ to the Sacramento Mtns (Ruidoso). It will have to be an overnight if you want to spend time in the areas.

OK, I just realized that the 23/24 is Easter weekend. This means I'll be occupied up here. If it were a one day Saturday ride, I could do it, but not overnight. We'll have to put that on another weekend. May 7/8 is right out since it's Mother's day. Of course, I just bought her a new helmet, so she's telling me we're going to ride all the time now. Maybe she's up for going then. That'll be two weekends in a row out of town, though. We'll have to see.

how did the ride go for those of you who went? I was up in Jemez hiking on Saturday, such beautiful weather, but surprisingly not many bikes.

Oh, well, since nobody from here was going, I hooked up with my buddy Luis. He used to have an XB12S, but sold it to his brother two years ago and bought a Ducati 848. He usually has pretty good group rides, although I'm often cautious of some of the people who show up.

This week, we met at Java Joe's in Santa Fe (his usual meet up spot) at 9am, waited for everyone to gather. At 10am, we took off north and met a couple guys at Pojaque, then up the High Road to Taos. The High Road was nice. That section from just above Chimayo going into Truchas is all new. They took out a few of the kinks, but it's all smooth fast pavement now. Much more confidence inspiring.

This week the group was Luis on his Ducati, Frankie (late 50's, apparently from NYC) on his CBR1000RR, Ron (early 60's insurance guy) on his BMW HP2 Sport, Tyler (a Kid Rock look alike) on his Harley Dyna Low Rider, Mark on a 2001 Suzuki GSXR1000, and Toby on an R6. All were new to me except Frankie who is a regular with Luis' group.

Ron is a good rider, fast but cautious. Frankie is fast and pretty heads up. Tyler was so far behind me, there's no telling. Mark was pretty good for his size, and Toby was painfully slow and didn't know how to ride in a group.

Turns out a seven year old XB9R is still pretty tough against that field. I was on Ron's ass most of the day until he got ahead of Frankie, then I was on Frankie's ass. We had about a half a second between us coming back. Luis was out front most of the time. And except for the two state troopers that he didn't even see, he does well leading.

Yeah. Generally, it's a Friday arrival day, socialize and do dinner on own that night. Saturday is a group ride. We'll have a route staked out, but you're free to ride to wherever you want. We'll rally back at the hotel around dinner time and then do dinner either in the hotel or at a local restaurant, depending on what I set up. Then Sunday is a ride home day. We try to take the scenic route. There are people going every which way depending upon which way is home, so you can usually join up with some folks for at least part of the way.

Also, we have a fee for the rally and it includes tee shirts for everyone who pays and awards for certain things like: Furthest Distance Ridden to the rally, Oldest Buell, Highest Average Mileage, Youngest Rider, etc.

Last year, it was $25. Probably be the same this year. All meals are on own.

I noticed that most of the other group pages have a logo at the top for their group... does NM have a logo? or does anyone think I should design one for NM?
