Not sure about the ULY but the other XB's have an issue where the spark plug wire wears a little bit, and in heavy rain it grounds out on the cylinder head. This may be your problem. I have the same issue with both of my XB's but only in heavy rain.

+1 on Delta - check your wires, sometimes they do chafe and short out. Either that, or (rear head especially) the wire can be pulled out of the boot while trying to access the plug for a change. The rear one is a bitch to get out, and lots of times it seperates in there during removal.

I'm getting ready for a 5k on mine; might go ahead and upgrade to the magnecor wires when the service is done. I run them in my turbocars and have had great luck with them, and I've heard nothing but good things about them on the Buells, too.

Oh, and Ras - you may have a similar issue. It sounded for all the world like you were riding a thumper...check your wires too. And you lose the "lope" sound...but keep your idle a hair over 1000. Lower than that, and it'll definitely foul plugs on ya. I don't mess with ECMspy on mine so I don't know actual RPMs but my Uly idles about a needle-width above the 1k mark on the tach...

So, I was having a random set of thoughts...I know some folks were thinking that CABO doesn't necessarily roll off the tongue....how about DCBC (DC Buell Club), or even BCDC? Or taking a cue from the train that runs MD to DC, MARC (Mid Atlantic Riders Club or Riding Club; I know, it doesn't say "Buell" in it....MARC-B maybe?).

Just silly ideas when I'd rather be out riding, lol.

Oh, and K? That S3T has a 610 area code, which I think puts it in north/central PA.

The real problem with a defining name is we are really trying to group together 3 different markets. I for one do not get closer to DC that 40 miles or so, I don't know that I'd consider myself part of the DC environment, more central/northern MD.

I think CABO works, but it does have a Baja party/tequila/Sammy Hagar connotation that I'd like to avoid...even though the "C" and the "O" could facilitate a two-wheeled logo.

Anyone tried a name with "Mid-Atlantic", like MABR (Riders)? MABC (Club)? BRMA (of the Mid-Atlantic)?

I agree, I'm not "in" DC either...but for folks from other regions, "DC" kinda sums up the area for them.

Besides - even though I 'outgrew' the band in high school - we could steal their logo and put a lightning bolt between the BC and the DC But I think (mainly because of the Red Rocker reference) that CABO would be more suited to someplace in the southwest.

The real problem is, there's no real widespread "name" for the area other than "Mid Atlantic" - no "tri cities" or anything like that we could use/steal. But I do think we need an identity that we all ...well, identify with. Without an identity, we don't have a group. Without a group...it's hard to organize. Organizing Buell owners is like herding cats to begin with, we don't need to have any other obstacles added on, lol.

Maybe a regional traffic-issue reference? RRR - Road Rage Riders? Or, especially appropriate this time of year - BRRR : )

Smiley.. damn son.. good idea, but I think we'd have a few problems with Philip Morris and the whole name/association thing.. (although, if we rode Ducatis.. Hmmm?)

Rat.. Out grew.. OUT GREW AC/DC? What are you kidding me? Next you'll tell me that you think Nugent needs to do less drugs.. Or that Slayer needs to speed up their tempos a little or Kiss needs to work on a stage show.. Sheeseh..

You don't out grow rock and roll.. you just lessen the impact you allow it to have on those around you.. But you keep the viral impact of power chords and heavy beats in your heart.. kind of like the sound a good twin.. Yeah, it's percussive .. but it's music and that's what you live for... a better sound track to your life!

Now.. Rock and give me twenty (head bangs)!!

ok.. uh.. rant.. uh.. (and roll) off..

Don't get me wrong, I love me some rock. I'm just tired of AC/DC is all. They've got their classics...but I'll chalk it up to overexposure. Maybe I'm still pissed at Sirius for killing the Zeppelin station but keeping the ac/dc channel...but whatever. I like some depth to my rock. Three chords are important...but they don't always have to be the *same three chords*.

I know. Sacrilege. All this typed as I listen to War Pigs on Pandora internet radio : ) <shrug> at least it has some melody to go with it's three chords, lol

Delmarva is often used to describe the area. (Delaware,Maryland,Virginia), I also like the Mid Atlantic name.

I’m not sure why this discussion of the name is even happening. Last year CABO was decided on and CABO is listed on the Buell website with Ramon as POC.

Organizing Buell owners is like herding cats to begin with,
That is an accurate statement as Court is fond of saying.

I’m not sure why this discussion of the name is even happening.

That would be my fault, I was having some random thoughts the other day and posted some ideas. CABO seems to me, as I mentioned before, like it'd be more fitting in the southwest...and to be honest, I really haven't seen much activity from the group. Granted, I was out of commission most of last summer...but for some reason I equate a strong group with a strong name. Not trying to diss the CABO name...but it just doesn't seem to be doing 'the trick' of getting folks together, organized, and having fun. Again, though...it could be entirely me and my perception since I was out of the game for so long last year.

Hey, I'm fine with CABO...it's just a name that we organize under (as long as it's in capital letters and not a reference to the desert southwest). I didn't realize it was a finalized logo. Cool, let's GO with it!

Like I said before, I think the C and the O can be adapted to a motorcyclish, two-wheel logo. Have there been sketches?

Also, saying "Delmarva" (while I think it's the most hilarious name, and a joke name I use for odd women of the area), negates the District of Columbia - a place I lived in for 13 months and really like, and seems to be headed toward recognition in Congress.

Can we agree on "Chesapeake Area Buell Owners" and start finalizing a logo? I want to start riding/conversing with y'all, and sticking a sticker here and there, and make a t-shirt!

I'm getting my 06 Uly back from its 12,000 mile service this weekend...plus, I just got a new car (2009 Infiniti G37 Sport Manual Transmission...I'm in horsepower nirvana). I expect a SLIGHT duel between my bikes and my new car for my road time...my bikes will always be black (is there another color for motorcycles?), but I think my cars will be red.

Car

Also, anyone done a ride from New Hampshire to Nova Scotia? I think I'm going to do that this summer.

I have a couple customers who did new england (region; not sure what state) to Nova Scotia....on BLASTS. Next time they're in, I'll pick their brains and see if I can get pictures of pictures (they're older folks, all their pics are on paper).

....and I know what you mean about red cars with HP. This is my 89 Shelby CSX, 2.2l 4 cyl intercooled variable-vane turbocharged, autographed by Carroll in 2001, documented one of 500 total built / one of 15 with this option pack, and 46k miles : )

"District of Columbia...seems to be headed toward recognition in Congress."

DC was setup with out a vote in the constitution for a reason. Only states should get voting rights. If a nonpartisan city gets voting rights then all of the other US territories should get voting rights.
everyone has learned about it in civics class, just think think back to high school.

When I slow down, the bike starts to not fire on the rear cylinder. This only happens when it is raining!

Marlinrider, I used to get similar symptoms on my S2 in the rain. Tried everything I could think of to fix it. The cure ended up being (almost too) simple: a healthy dollop of dielectric grease inside each spark plug boot.

Electricity is lazy - it always takes the easiest path to ground. Sometimes this path is NOT the spark plug gap.

The tremendous pressures inside the cylinder during the combustion event makes it even harder for the spark to jump the gap, so to speak, and what was happening in my case is the juice was shorting to the cylinder head via the externally wet spark plug body and internally wet spark plug boot.

I'd even lose BOTH cylinders on occasion, and while sitting on the side of the road, cursing and trying to troubleshoot my problem, the heat from the engine would dry out the plugs/boots enough that the bike would magically run again.

Fine! But then I'd get a couple miles down the road and lose spark again. ARGH!!

This was only in the rain. (I lived in Washington State at the time, where it ALWAYS rains...)

A little dollop of dielectric grease inside each boot cured this once and for all; it eliminated the "easy" ground path to the cylinder head.

This stuff is sold at any auto parts store, often in little packets that go for only a couple bucks each.

Might be worth a try? Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your input! I will start with a large dollop of dielectric grease on both plugs. Maybe replace the plug wires next at 35k (per Joe).
