I was reading thru some posts recently and came up with a question. Did the design team ever come up with a logo? If I missed it I apologize. I'm new here and I haven't read every single post but have scanned thru a bunch of 'em. I have an idea for one and tried to make it on photoshop but my photoshop skills are pretty much nil. | ||

I can throw the idea out there and someone with graphic skills can "ink" it out. Ok, take the Buell logo shown here.  Change the word "Buell" to "CABO" Change the words "American Motorcycles" to "Capitol Area Buell Owners". Or just "Capitol Area Buellers" Of course the font will have to be smaller to fit. Change the color if needed. I kinda like it as is. I used to work with Corel Draw a while back but I've since lost that program and as previously stated my photoshop skills are null and void. I've only used it one time. Hopefully someone out there can work something out. Anyhoo, just a thought. Mike | ||

I like the simplicity. I think we need some imagery to represent the Capital area part, and maybe some iconic Buell reference like a cartooned V twin. I'm a Photoshop guru.... part of my job. I've been wanting to play with this logo for a while now just haven't had the time. I'll see If I can mock up something rough today. | ||

Kool. I just started using photoshop a couple days ago so someone with the skills is a definite plus. Thanks for the info. One of the thoughts so far behind what I've made is how it would look as a patch on a jacket or the like. I'd thought about the Capitol part but hadn't gotten to that yet. I'm starting to feel it! Great colors. Would the "C" and the "O" become the wheels of a bike? Then we can try to get consensus on whether it's "Capital Area" or "Mid-Atlantic" Buell Owners...I know some of the folks from around Baltimore or even on the way to the Blue Ridge have their opinions. I say the logo can work with either. Also, Capital with an "a" refers to the city (or the money). Capitol with an "o" refers to the building. If we stick with "Capital Area", perhaps the instantly-recognizable "DC skyline" (Capitol Building, Washington Monument, White House, Lincoln/Jefferson Memorials) could be outlined in the background. No matter where you ride, people would know where you're from. Thanks for doing this! | ||

We tried several ways to get a bike, rider, and engine into the logo. Nothing really looked right. I kinda like the oval logo though. And I like it better if it looks just like the Buell logo! Leave all the symbols off, it just adds clutter. K.I.S.S. Not too shabby Usmoto!  | ||

Sorry it took me a few days to get around to this. I went with Usmoto's idea of using the Buell logo straight up with a CABO substitution. Here it is using Photoshop tricks to recreate Buell's logo. It's a little rough but I can fine tune it. I have other ideas I'd like to experiment with, but I wanted to get this out there so you all didn't think I bailed on putting something together. Nice day tomorrow. I'm loading up the saddlebags and camping with some buddies who are doing a mountain bike race. With a keg of Clipper City Loose Canon on tap, you bet I'm sleeping over.   | ||

Thunderstruck, Any progress on the logo? I think the last one you posted is the exact idea we're looking for. It would be awesome to make it official and maybe get some stickers and patches made of it. Let me know how I can help. | ||

Hey, if people are a) cool with calling it the "Capital (with an "a") Area" rather than the "Mid-Atlantic", and b) Buell is okay with borrowing their logo, I'm all for it. | ||

I still prefer "Chesapeake Area Buell Owners" I think it is more representative of the area that this group covers. | ||

Yeah I like the Chesapeake designation also. It covers a larger area (coastal that is), it has more of an outdoors/nature oriented... get out and ride sound to it, it doesn't depict the whole "establishment", government thing either. We should take a vote from all of those who regularly chime in. The MD, DC and VA folks. PA is not included .... correct? As far as the logo goes, I can refine it a bit more. If we go with Chesapeake it might be nice to incorporate some iconic symbolism like a wave, or something like that. Doubt we'd want to go with Sails or seagulls. This isn't a freak'n sailing club. If we go with Capitol, might be nice to incorporate some stars and strips to complete the whole patriotic American sport bike thing. Thoughts? | ||

How about we take the NEW Buell logo and use that. I don't have Photoshop. 1) Make the shield Red. 2) Change Buell to CABO. 3) Add 3 stars that are used in the DC flag. | ||

I though about using the new Buell logo at the time it made the last CABO version. I found the ad that went around and saved the graphic. I'll try to find time to play with it. | ||

Actually.. for those that don't remember.. CABO is actually.. CcABO (we just dont' use the second 'C').. and it 'officially' stands for: Capitol, Chesapeake Area Buell Owners.. Trying to be all inclusive as we were with the various name choices. I still like some of the 'other' names as well.. but people didn't seem to like "SATANS KITTENS" so much..  (great history on that one though)... I like the Oval, great job on it! Now, let's see what you do with the 'new' logo and yeah, if we make a few changes.. well.. it's not the 'Buell' logo anymore.. right? (Last thing we want is to get into a fight with the Motherships legal team).. And the stars don't have to be there, or they could be on the shield.. just a thought.. | ||

I'm for that. Can you get all that lettering to fit? Hope so...don't want people thinking that I'm in some sort of Sammy Hagar/Baja MC. Also, don't forget to spell "Capital" with an "a" instead of an "o". |
