So, in my research of Buell the bike and Buell the Company I keep hearing about the "good" and the "bad" dealers. No names, necessarily, but, just lots of talk about some good ones, but, mostly LOTS of bad ones, and, how the dealer network is the weak spot in an, otherwise, incredible machine.

There is a dealer local to me. Precision in Pawtucket, RI. It'd be great if Precision was considered a "good" dealer!

So, I guess what I'm getting at is whether there are any "good" dealers in southern New England? Who are they? Who should I steer clear of? Is there a southern New England dealer that would happily allow demos?

My last couple bikes I bought 100 miles from my home. Unless you ride japanese, that's pretty much par for the course, and, just the way it is, but, hey, if there was a "good" dealer local to me, that would certainly influence my decision to go Buell!

Oh, and, what about Gengras in Hartford? Since they also deal in BMW, that could make for an easy trade in

Comments?

Jim

Hi Jim

Precision is good depending on who you deal with and what department you deal with.

For example:
I have nothing but bad things to say about the sales department.
I have nothing but good things to say about the parts department.
I have nothing to say about their service department. They did work for me that pissed me off on their behavior but the bike came out Ok.

I just go there for parts and swag now. : )

I would say that if you need work to be done there are plenty of us NEBO folks that would be more than happy to help you out. We can pretty much do it all when it comes to these bikes. I'm 15 minutes from you and you have another NEBO member in Bristol.

Hey Now! That's good to know.

So, Tripp, you work in the parts dept. at precision! Damnut has, uh, less than positive things to say about the sales dept., but, you can get me a no pressure demo on a Uly (didn't mention what bike I was interested in, but, yeah, that's the one)? Why do I have to wait until spring?
Any 08/09 Uly's in stock?

I wanted to stay objective in my original post. I have been into Precision. Actually, an older gentleman in the sales dept arranged a demo ride on an 07 Uly about 18 mos. ago. I just ended up keeping my BMW, but, I've had that Uly on my mind ever since. He was very stand offish at first, and, made me feel less than secure, but, the more we talked, the more he warmed up, and, arranged the ride a couple days later.

I was hoping someone would say it was a straight up dealer. Still, before making contact with him, I had been in several times, and, noone even looked my way, but, that was awhile ago.

Tripp... Yea man I've been busy lately. Mostly getting the Jeep going again. Leavin tomorrow for Malaysia so it might be a while longer till I'll be able to stop by. You can put a couple on the side for me if ya want. : )

no problem damnut, have fun in malaysia!

hehe, jim you happened to talk to harley charlie, he's retired now, often referred to buells and sportsters as mopeds mostly joking, everybody else here loves buells. i did'nt really mean you have to wait till spring, guess i just figured you might want to, today is a little chilly for instance, but anyway come on down, i talked to joseph in sales, he has some free swag for you and would love to let you take a test ride! we have buell enthusiasts here dying to talk trilogy of tech and i'm one of them!

Gengras in Hartford? - I've used them but only for parts acquisition. They have always gotten what they promised at the price promised. 25% of the time I have gotten the HD is god you are dirt for not riding one comments. I have responded with my view of the world. They have still gotten me what I want. So if action speaks louder than words they are 100% so far. I believe in the free market of ideas so I don't mind arguing with anyone about anything but some people are put off by having to justify purchasing a bike to the people they brought it from while attempting to give them more money for parts.

There are NO GOOD DEALERSHIPS in and or around new england, they will F&ck you hard no matter what so get out the lube if you plan on setting foot in one to buy a bike. better want it for life as you will loose your shirt if you try and resell it.

There is Only 1 Good Parts guys around these parts.....Period!

But you seem to have already found him....

What happens when the "good parts guy" moves on?

That's a good point about resale. these bikes don't hold their value too well, do they

Tripp will take good care of you.

Eric suffers SEVERE allergic reactions at the mention of a dealer...

I have severe reactions to anybody doing business with Sheldons in Auburn MA (sorry boos...) They screwed up everything I've ordered through them, screwed up service (warranty work on the charging system) parts ordering...and sold me parts that don't fit my bike twice!

I've spent my last penny at that place...I now drive the extra 5-10 minutes to go see Tripp.

Other than that - I do my own work or enlist help from NEBO if I'm not sure what I'm getting into.

As a group we can do parts, tires, wheels, custom designed and manufactured parts (3 designers in the group and 2 machinists), and we can remap and program the ECM so don't go buying race kit anything...you'll be throwing money away.

Welcome to the group!

Phwx2; You might want to check out TSI in Ellington, CT. They're a small shop, but they like Buells and have always treated me with respect.

I've never been to TSI. Its a longer ride for me, good in the summer, bad in the winter. Plus Gengras is close to a home brew supply store, but I should keep TSI in mind. Thanks for the reminder Crusty.

I bought my bike from national powersports distributors. www.nationalpowersports.net
They disclose everything, have a great reputation, and they ship anywhere. Many people buy from them sight unseen, from all over the country. A soldier in IRAQ bought one and had it shipped to him there, crazy.

I bought my S3 from National Power Sports as well.
They have high quality used bikes, usually at very good prices....

Just don't let them mount new tires...they will destroy your rims...just ask Show Bike Shawn...he'll tell you!

I've been to Precision in RI and the personal was great! The parts guys were cool and even spoke with the owner who seemed really down to earth. The guys in service did a good job on my bike
