Retail price for a XB12STT clutch cable is $35.80. I got one a few weeks back for the XT-BOLT. Haven't gotten around to swapping it out yet though. The OE XT cable is great for the OE Uly bars, but loops a little too much for my taste with the CityX/STT bars. This cable, part number 38613-03B, should be the same for the CityX since the bars are the same between the CityX and STT, and if it's true what I've heard (Lightning bars are the same as the CityX/STT bars minus the cross bar and black coating) it should also be the right part for a Lightning.

brankin,
i am also considering the iron butt from east troy after homecoming, but i will be heading to louisiana. last time i checked(5-6years) you had to preregister with the IBA in order to have them accept your documentation and send you a sticker and certificate. i've done the run-1100 in 24- but never got the certificate. make sure your gas receipts don't get wet in the rain!! sandwich bags are your friend. it's a little over 1000 from ET to my house. i will have to check on the requirements. i will use the 1125. see you at homecoming.

http://www.ironbutt.com/ridecerts/

For those thinking of doing a IBA ride now or in the future. Different rides have different requirements. The "29 tips" on the home page are a good read with help from the experts who have been there and made that mistake.

No homecoming for me this year

You may be the first person to do an iron butt on an 1125. Perpetual bragging rights. : )

Anybody have riding plans for tomorrow? I desperately need to mow the lawn and I'm planning on heading up to Ray Price to get new cables, but other than that I'd just like to get out and put some miles on.

Who's up for it?

I'll be riding locally maybe a 100 or so miles, scrubbing in some new tires on the HP2 getting ready for VIR and then Rally Tennessee which I leave for on Thursday. Yeah, it's a little hectic here. Let me know if you head down this way.

I'm going to RP in the morning to have them analyze my fuel pump. I don't know if thats a wait for it deal, or a leave it deal. I'll be on one bike or the other after that.

Jim sounds like a computer issue, the pump unless drasticlay different from a tube frame unit provides No pressure feed back to the computer, the start up cycle is a canned cycle, sounds like an intermitting
issue.

Does Spike have the ECM spy setup still?

I still have the laptop with ECMspy, but I don't have the cable. I need to just go ahead and order one, or at least order the parts for one.

I thought I put the wrong part number for the clutch cable, so I took some pictures before I left for work this morning.

Clutch Cable 1

Clutch Cable 2

I once thought I was wrong, turns out I was mistaken... Right part number the first time, my bad.

One thing I found interesting. Last weekend I was at Shelton's to get some oil, a clutch cover gasket and an O-ring for the clutch cable. The '08 Uly parts manual did not show an O-ring for the clutch cable, however the '08 Firebolt parts manual did show an O-ring for the clutch cable. So I bought the Firebolt O-ring, which the parts manager kindly informed me is the same part as on a Big Twin. I sure wish a parts manual existed for the '08 XB12XT, but if it turns out to be as accurate as the '08 Uly manual, I don't know... BTW, my updated '08 XB service manual - that covers the XB12XT - still has the well known to be wrong torque spec for the oil drain plug... Hooray for Tech Pubs!

Flyn - I am not registered, but I'll probably show up to watch and say hello. If they have extra space, I my run.

Something is broken at work, I'm going to try and fix it this weekend. If that doesn't work, I may have to go in on Monday.

Understood.

If it helps I will have the trailer up with me, just in case you need some space.
Not sure if I will be able to get away late Sunday or oooh my early Monday morning.

Hope to see everyone there! Last 60 days 10-14 hours/day without a day off so the boss can.....well you get the idea.

Stopped by Ray Price today, saw Jim's Ulysses in the service department.

I checked on the cable prices. The clutch cable for an '04 Firebolt is a 38627-02C and it sells for $35.80. The throttle open cable is a N0307.02A8A and it sells for $20.19. The throttle close cable is a N0308.02A8A and it sells for $25.49. With tax that comes to a grand total of $86.98, not including the 11179 o-ring for sealing the clutch cable to the primary housing. I hadn't really expected to spend ~$90 on cables today, but the Firebolt needed them.

On an unrelated note, the steering head bearings for an '04 Firebolt are an E0002.02A8A and sell for $26.88 each (two are required). I was unable to find a universal number for them. I was hoping I'd be able to get them from applied.com, but I might just order a set from the dealer. Do any of you guys have the necessary bearing tool for removing installing those bearings?

While on my home from Ray Price this AM I saw a woman on a Blast! in Farmville. She stopped for gas, so I pulled in behind her and gave her the info here. She's had her Blast! for 3 years and rides mostly to work and back. Hope she'll pop in and say hi!

Last week I got a call from a Grifton police officer to talk to Carlos about his Buell. Seems he's been a Buell fan since the early 90's and has just purchased an M2.

Looks like the eastern side of C3 is growing!

Speaking of Ray Price - I called them this AM to check availability of wheel bearings for the Uly and could they/would they replace them without an appointment if I came in this AM. They not only had the bearings in stock, but replaced them while I waited. Good to have good local support, especially on a Monday when so many of the other dealers are closed.

The Blast did well. Props to Sportymark for putting it back together in such a worthy fashion. I ran 2 twheny minute sessions on the Blast, and only burnt 3/4 of a gallon of gas, include 13 miles round trip to the filling station. : )

I was concerned about the handling on the first session. But after I learned to hang off enough that the muffler wouldn't drag around the corners, it rode like a dream.

I rode home by coming down 119 to 86. When I got to the stop sign at 86, a red firebolt pulled up beside me. : ) It was MTB. We came down 86 into Durham, and there was traffic. I passed a couple of trucks. I think I was running the Blast harder doing that than I was out on the track.

VIR was great. I got in trouble for passing when I shouldn't had, but as Mike said, it was a clean pass. I can see me getting addicted to track days and now I know to not sign up for novice group. Jim, it was good riding back with you, you sure can push that Blast. Kristi, sorry I missed you yesterday, I am glad we were able to help.

Too little sleep added to being very tired already added to the chain issue that I am dealing with, I just decided not to push my luck with riding up to VIR. There will be another day and time! I know you all had a great time, AND PERFECT WEATHER, that was really the hardest part, stepping outside and feeling the weather!

Have not had a chance to shrink em down to fit here.

Had a great day!! Reset the trip meter at the beginning, ended up with just over 84 miles on the track. 50 laps on the Uly and a 20 minute session on the demo firebolt.
Better than an amusement park and cheaper too.

Nice to put names with faces. Great times can't wait to do it again. Only regret was I didn't take enough pictures.

Dang Jim the video is cool...maybe I should learn to operate that feature on my camera as well. Still shots just don't compare.

Mike: Me too. Might just have to stop by and talk about the engine mods you have done. Thinking I will be in the NOVICE class for the next 10 years but it would be great to have the horses to pass the slow guys like me on the straits.
