Charlie,
My brother in law just won himself several thousand on that fiasco (he lives in England so no laws were broken in the process).
The link you posted to the video did not work when clicked on. That is what we internet dorks refer to as a broken link. I was only able to access it through the email you sent. You must have accidently left off part of the address when you copied and pasted. An easy mistake to make.

Hows my alligator doing down there? Did you tell him that he is going to get jumped if me and Nuts come visit? I have captured and handled captive crocodilians but never a wild one. If he ain't over 6ft he is fair game! Don't worry though, a few photos and he'll be released unharmed and none the worse for wear.
Out of curiosity is there a medical facility nearby that could sew my arm back on if needs be?

Jackie,
Saw the gater for the first time this winter about two days ago. Must not be the same one because this one looks a lot smaller, about 5ft. but it is still a little early for him. Going to be eighty tomorrow, maybe then.
Maybe you should share that link with Tank so his middle aged house cats don't come after me.I sent one to Nuts also, Im surprised I haven't heard out of him.
We are in the process of building a new bike, this one is going to have a 490 Yamaha motor. It is a real torque beast. Can't wait to see it on the track, we will be protested for sure.

NUTS is in full recovery mode. Yesterday's ride was epic! After breakfast with 12 riders four of us set out for dirt roads known and unknown. We rode over past Fincastle towards New Castle where we picked up a great NF road for about 7 miles. Lots of mud, whoops, and sloppy switchbacks. One bike took a nap in the mud and it wasn't Scarlett. That road led us just south of Lignite where we turned West and ran into the first patch of ice. We all made it to the top and encountered more ice farther down. The rider on the KLR with street tires dumped it on a sheet of ice he should have avoided. I saw him go down and got to him in time to assist with the raising. At the moment the bike was nearly righted I felt my back give way and just sank with the inevitable pain that followed. We had plans to take the jeep trail that runs along th top of Potts mountain but decided against it as more ice was sure to there. We ran over to Johns Creek road and linked up with Tubb Run NF road. The KLR rider peeled off as we encontered more ice. The remaining three riders continued the 15 miles back to 311 at a spirited pace. By now my back was becoming REALLY problematic, but I'd be darned if I was gonna let it keep me from the creek crossings on Broad Run. We fueled up in New Castle and headed the 4 miles south to the turn-off. Broad run is a road we did with the Tankster and has 6 creek crossings early on. The creeks were mega-full and I did proceed to attack them with reckless abandon. We made all the crossings and tiptoed around the mud holes on our way out towards Daleville. I totaled about 140 miles on Scarlett yesterday and had a complete ball.
Jackie is going to enjoy the bike once he gets it set up properly and the Tankster will too if he ever gets out this way. Charlie: we all know how much you enjoy seeing those dirt track bikes in that constant lean at 80+ mph. I try to imagine myself doing that at every left corner in the slop: foot out, rear tire spinning mercilessly!
I'm going to be paying the piper for what I've done to myself so no goofing around for me until my class at the end of this month.

NUTS got some bad news today. Have to go see the neurosurgcial expert in the morning for my back. The diagnosis has been upgraded from muscle strain to SPONDYLOLISTHESIS. Wasn't at all helpful when my wife told me I had a broken back! The XR known as Scarlet will be brought into the NUTS cave and meticulously cleaned ala Turtlehugger. She might just have to be put on the trading block.

Oh and I found out I owe our favorite uncle(Sam) $3500. But NUTS will regain his once glorious place in the RVF&L.

Nuts,
Sorry to hear about your broken back, that sucks. But your still young and you'll bounce back. I wouldn't put a gun to Scarlets head for your poor judgement.
Also sorry to hear about the IRS taking a liking to you, been there, done that. Still have bad dreams.....You know a few of those "rugrats" running around and that 3500 would vanish, just a thought. Hope you can mount back up before Suches GA rolls around.

So you broke your back helping pick up another dudes bike??? Good on ya for helping out, but that really sucks dude! Godspeed on the recovery bit.

On another note...
If I had a household visit from some "unfriendlies", and the DR was the only means of escape....

..I think I might get farther if I layed it down blocking the driveway, and ran for it.

The carb is getting worse with time, and leaking fuel.

I think Nuts quoted it best..."It's Time!"

Charlie,
Come on now don't sugar coat it. We all know that at his age things start going wrong and we start paying for the fun we had in our youth. Happened to you, happened to me and is NOW happening to Nuts. Tank, your next in line to disintegrate. Let's tell him about the shoulder, hip and knee pain that will follow shortly .

Nuts,
Its all down hill from here. Welcome to the Brokeback Riding club . Now it won't be just me needing those breaks every 20 minutes.

Bearer Of The Magnificent Sword,
Call Star City Powersports and talk to Kip. Tell him Jason and Jackie told you he would give you an unbelievable deal which would be worth your time and travel. They will hook you up since they have several sitting on the floor getting dusty and older.

Jackie,
I happened into the dealer I most loathe to get some tire spoons.

They had the most beautiful DR I have seen.
A black 6xx. I was too busy drooling to notice if it was a 600 or 650, but it was shorter than all the other bikes around. No I still won't be able to touch the ground, but it sure was purty.(and no help to be found)

..since they have several sitting on the floor
Several what?? I stil want a T-dub.

Tank,
I honestly don't know what they were. They were made by Yamaha and were whitish with grey and black graphics. Looks like they would fit you pretty durn good too.
The sales guy said they just kinda sit there with no prospective buyers.
Find you a good deal on the DR650 and then get the lowering link. The bike itself drops about 5 inches when you sit on it so it might not be too bad for you.
Most riders I have seen can't flat foot their bikes. Jason is a freak of nature since he can flat foot his even with his feet down in a 2ft drainage ditch. With them monkey like arms and legs he may just be the missing link Charles Darwin was looking for .

Fellas, the doc says surgery is not an option at this point and I have been given 6 weeks of physical therapy. Cancelling my dirt class as we speak and looking forward to riding when I am healthy. I'll be searching for a new job here soon as well; the possibility of wrenching my back in this profession is too high to consider staying.

For now, both bikes will remain in the stable. Jackie now has plenty-o-time to farkle away! Tank has time to get his T-Dubb. There's two at our dealership, along with the new XT250, Honda CRF230. Though the bike to have is the 2009 Yamaha WR250r.

Nuts,
That's good news, anytime you can dodge the knife your ahead of the game. Now therapy can be a pain in the A$$ or in your case a little higher. But just think of it as getting a fine tuned body, like Jackie and I. Although we try not to throw that fact around.
This injury of yours is not going to let you off being our prime candidate for harassment,so get well quick, I hate picking on a cripple.

You tell him Charlie! Lot of training went into getting ourselves to this level of conditioning. Nuts and Tank just can't comprehend the commitment it takes. I salute you sir in keeping up the good fight with me .
You know the pieces are really fitting together. Along with knuckle dragging he is now sprouting hair out of his ears and on his back. Now normally I'd think he is just getting older but with all this happening in such a short time I strongly believe he is turning into a Chimp . Lots of money to be made here Charlie. We can get one of them street grinder things and have him do tricks for pocket change. I'll feed him but you gotta clean the cage .

Tank,
Where is the picture of the new bike?

I don't know Jackie, seems like there would be to much liability in the organ grinder gig. I've been told that Nuts can just walk down the street and bikes fall over, just sitting there on their kick stands. Also I've heard that the bigger chimps like to play with themselves alot, that's gonna draw the wrong kind of crowd.

Now I am 100% sure of it! All this time I thought he was just "fidgety" while sitting in the woods. Turns out he was fondling himself. Oh, the humanity of it all. I am scarred for life .
Maybe we can get Geico to insure us while he is on the leash. They insure cavemen so maybe our pet chimp Nuts will qualify.
You know, I used to hold onto the Firebolt when he was around. Also noticed whenever we go to Star City Powesports they call everybody out to the showroom to put mattresses around the bikes. Looks like a commercial for a bedding store .

Talk to me about this new race bike. You drop some juicy details but no pics of this dirt track monster.
I WANNA SEE IT!

Jackie,
If you wanna see it,you will have to come down here.Don't have anyway to get pic's and don't know how to post them.
Most of my bikes are junkyard specials, at least the engines are. The frames are special and the wheels, brakes and front end aren't new but good stuff. I got $300 in this engine, the one last year was free. I take them apart and replace whats needed, do a little port work.Make the rider do the rest.
Right now we are making new motor mounts for the 490 to go into an Astro frame, the motor is actually smaller than the 250 that came in it. The whole bike should weigh about 200 lbs.wet and about 50 to 60hp.Low rpm,all torque.

I used to do all sorts of crazy mods to my first dirtbike. It was a mighty dual shock XR80 from way back in 1983. Checked out all the books from the local libraries and dug in. That thing was LOUD, obnoxious and ugly but ran like a scalded dog.
Anyway my point being sometimes the "junkyard specials" are more fun than a brand new farkled out model.
I also had a heavily modified 1979 Yamaha 500TT and that thing was, to this day, the most powerful dirtbike I've ever ridden. Not the fastest mind you but insane amounts of torque that led to many a misadventure and injury.
Back then I had a bad habit oftrying to climb the unclimbable and jump the unjumpable. Old age has made me rethink that kind of riding .

Jackie,
I did a XR75 for a nephew that was racing back in the early eighties.Had a stroker crank that made it a hundred and I took the ign. flywheel and cut everything off except the points cam and ran a total loss battery. That thing would sail.
The TT500 engine is still top dog in the seventies singles class.(Vintage Flat track)
I stick to the two strokes just because they are a lot cheaper to build and maintain.

How bout' this one Charlie.
One day whilst we were gathered at the local dirt track a buddy rolls up on a shiny new Yamaha 175IT. ALL of us lusted after this new machine and being the good friend that he was he allowed each one of us a turn on it.
First guy bails it in a lame attempt at a powerslide.
I got on and did two jumps which ended in bent footpeg brackets and bent rims.
Third guy ran it so hard in first that it sheared off the rear sprocket bolts.
The proud new owner was reduced to a sniveling lad who had no choice but to push his not so shiny, bent up new ride home.
My parents (along with the other guys) got a call later that evening saying we needed to meet the parents or the police would be called. Me and my buddies met him and his parents that afternoon and the kid who owned the bike said we forcibly took it from him and destroed it on purpose. His parents decided that since we had no jobs we could paint the house, cut firewood and build a shed in return for damaging his ride. The whole time we had to work around the guy who lied about giving us permission to ride in the first place.
I guess what goes around comes around though. All of us went on to have successful adult lives and he is a raging crackhead. Kharma is a B!atch

I went out today and broke my own rule. Jumped on the Versys for a nice little loop of the BRP and Bent mtn. The back feels excellent and gives me no fuss on the bike.
Because I was feeling so well I came home and further dis-assembled Scarlett. Tail light is off and I'm shopping for a jet kit and new tank now. If it won't run I can't ride it!

Jackie, interested in a range outing tomorrow? I need to find something to do other than motorbikes. NUTS

Yeah but he should have known better .

Tank,
Beats me why they leave that sharp edge on the backside of the shifter. Its almost like they want you to poke a hole in your stator cover so you'll have to buy another one from them. Poor design if you ask me.
So it sounds like you went to the bike shop? Put a downpayment on anything?

Man what kind of crap is that? You know I stay up all night and now I'll be sitting around wondering what is going on!
Nuts and I were just talking about you today. The way we figured it is we could realistically schedule a ride once or twice a month over here or over there. That in itself would warrant the new purchase.
Plus Nuts has met several fellers' that have mentioned Hatfield McCoy. Lots of potential at that place.
Gotta get a ride you can trust so you spend the time riding instead of pushing

Already having second and third thoughts, and I haven't signed anything yet. They want too much and the "sales manager" lied to me twice. He tried to tell me they didn't make the DR650 for 2008, after I quoted a Suzuki online MSRP of 5099.

Nuts,
I think maybe Jackie might be getting a little incentive on his farkles if he moves a few bikes for them. To bad that DR650 won't fit in one of my racing frames, that looks like a good price. Still it would blow my budget for the next three years.
Tank,
If you get one, don't let the Truttler break it in for you.(I've heard stories)
