Oh my what a bold statement! I have ridden dirt for years and still manage to bail it at least once per trip. If you stay upright the whole time you ain't riding hard enough.
Thursday: you roll in and we load the dirtbikes on my trailer to be ready to go by 2:00pm. Nuts will have his loaded in his truck and swing by to pick us up. Ride the trails and fire roads until dusk and then hit Wendys. You'll be back to the hotel by 11:30pm.
Friday: Meet up around 3:00pm and head out for a ride up Bent Mountain where we will then hit the BRP. Ride to Tuggles to get a bite to eat and have bad thoughts about the waitresses (except for Jason since he is an oak). Continue up BRP to Mabrys Mill where we will take ample pictures and talk you into taking a pinch of snuff . Ride back in before dark to avoid the onslaught of deer that emerge after the sun goes down. Back to the hotel by 9:30 unless you want to sit around and listen to me and Nuts throw insults at one another.
Saturday: We meet at my house and load up the fishing gear. After a quick stop to get minners' we cruise on down to Craigs Creek where you will witness the skills of the master and the ongoing tribulations of Nuts trying to best me. Afterwards we will slowly cruise back in while looking for Rattlesnakes (to photograph not kill) and then another stop at Wendys. Back to the hotel by 11:00
Sunday: I'll be laying in the bed all day trying to recuperate. You're on your own sucka!

If you get a chance go to Google and type in VDGIF. I believe you can buy a 3 day permit online for a very reasonable cost.

What is everybody doing next weekend? We are talking about going to Kristi's Dad's place in Hillsville VA. I was wondering if one day we can hook up and ride in mountains north or Winston-Salem?

Just kidding with ya.
I'm definitely not above layin' it down a time or two.
But at least if I do, no one could tell.

Sounds like a grand adventure!
I'll be rollin' home Sunday morning, with Monday off work for my own day of rest.

Looks like I'll have a fair amount of time in the mornings to explore on my own. I'll try not to terrorize the fine citizens of Roanoke too bad.

Tank,
You could aways go visit a Buell friendly dealership in the am. I guess there still Buell friendly, been so dang long since I was up there.
Jackie,
Wasn't trying to slight the "Mad Yeller Jacket", was just complimenting Nuts on his new stead. There's no question as to which one I would ride off on, even if it is yellow.Charlie

After Nuts's experience, I could guess that they are indeed Buell friendly. Good idea!

Those roads are of no use to anyone on a public forum..move along. They suck, arrow straight, no elevation change. I may have ideas regarding roads in the area. I just don't publish 'em. NUTS

M2NC,
Next Saturday is the opening of squirrel season here in Va. so Nuts and myself will be in the woods.
Sunday is a possibility. What did you have in mind?

Tank,
I was just funnin' ya' man! You don't have to bail it or ride at a pace that is uncomfortable just to satisfy me. Actually I would prefer a leisurely ride so I have some energy reserves left for Fridays event.
As far as the mornings go perhaps you and Nuts can hit some of the choice roads until I am able to leave the confines of my house.
Don't take me and Nuts too seriously. If you do you will have a mental breakdown before you even get here .

I was trying to see what interest there would be. I just wanted to do a day ride on some local roads between Hillsville and Roanoke. There several C3'ers that are close enough to make it a day ride. Plus we have a visiting 3%er in Winston-Salem.

Nuts, what a beautiful bike. I like the Buell exhaust. : )

Like yours too Jackie.

I was on 220 actually. It's the fastest way in and the 4 hours it takes to get up there is about the limit of the g/f's endurance on the bike. I got up this morning and decided to see if I could find the star. I did manage despite the minimal signage. Then rode back to the hotel, had brunch, and headed out of town. It looked dry up there (it's dry here too.) I'm sure the rain this morning was welcome. Got a bit wet comming back, but I prefer wet to hot.

Had lunch yesterday in a little town just north of Martinsville. I liked the glasses:

The hotel is still very bike friendly:

Found this little guy outside. I don't know what he wanted with the flower. But he was a curious chap. He crawled all the way up to my shoulder to see what I was.

Carlos, I might could get a ride in Saturday morning. I'm unaware of my schedule for Sunday though.
Jim, That star sure is nice at night. The road leading to it aint half bad either.

Tank, no sweat I was just breaking your NUTS. Just wait'll we hit the river and ole Turtlehugger starts playing the " I fish only virgin water's" game. I think I could find some roads for us to play on in the morning. NUTS

Charlie, thanks for the kind words. They say a tiger can't change his spots and mine sure seem pretty shifty!

You're no tiger, brutha.

More like Sci-Fi.

I can usually anticipate a Nuts shift, but this time I totally missed it. I guess the silence was the clue. Nice bike BTW. And it would be great if you lead the way in the AM. Do you have time off from the cancelled endeaver?

And for a funny mental picture....
Think about Buell lollipops on a DR(yes I did)

Tank, he was a brave creature. Crawled right up and looked me in the eye. Carried that flower with him all the way up too. I've no idea what he was doing with it.

It was Hotel Roanoke. I went there last summer. It's $10 to park a car. Bikes are free. The vallet owns a BMW. He told me he had ridden an XB before. : )

I could do a night there, on a whim. But my three night stay would give cause for me to join the "Save the Greenbacks" effort.

Turtlevove, Not everything is as you may initially read it. See, changing stripes to spots in the above quote makes it unique and removes any chance of it being cliche'. On a lighter note.....squirrel season is about upon us and I am jacked! Followed by a visit from the long overdue Tank: good roads and rides will be had and many a picture exposed. Still trying to come up with a clever name for the new Kawi, so bear with it as we suffer break in together. NUTS

Nuts,
No longer than you keep a bike, why worry about break in on the Red Rooster, besides the say break-em in hard and fast to seat the rings and they run faster, Somebody wrote that, not me. Got it off some sportbike website Mc Dizzy or something similar...........Charlie

The family has a bet on how long Nuts will keep this one. I'm currently giving my buddy the benefit of the doubt and saying he'll keep it until the end of the year

Not sure Jackie, tires ought to be good for about 6K, how long will it take him to get that? After that just depends on whether he has bought all the gear to fit it yet.By the way, does it have an automatic kickstand alarm or attitude sensor, just a thought......Charlie

PS
I just thought of a name, how about "Red Rover". How does that go: Red Rover, Red Rover how long before you fall over.I just can't help it sometimes.

killin' us Charlie. Keep em' coming.

I have to agree with Jackie. I have it pegged right around Christmas time, or right after the first of the year.

...good roads and rides will be had and many a picture exposed
You have no idea...
I was gonna' surprise ya'll, but who am I kidding, I can't hold back...

I just ordered one of those little "bullet" cameras so I can strap it on the bike, while keeping the video camera tucked safely in the tank bag. Need to stock up on SD memory cards.(I'm such a geek sometimes)

Charlie,
That was indeed a fine jab at the Nutster !

Tank,
I guess I don't have to worry about being on that video since I'll be behind ya'll the whole time.
Even on the dirt I figure to let Nuts take lead, you in the middle and me getting dusty.
I would like to get a few frames with me in it so I can see what my form looks like when going around a corner.

Jason and I are getting ready for 2 weeks of non stop action. Squirrel season starts Saturday so we will be in the woods on his days off. Then we are going hunting/camping next Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. The following week is your arrival which is shaping up to be a true adventure !

Well if the Squirrels don't show up... We are going to head to Hillsville this weekend. I have family day Sunday, but that leaves Saturday open for riding. I may be solo or with pillion but either way its all fun. So if anyone is up for a ride in the area, let me know.

M2nc,
It ain't about the squirrels man. Its about sitting in the woods sweatin' and getting ate up by the mosquitos and ants. Add to that the fun of sitting perfectly still for 4 hours and seeing them run through the treetops but not being able to get a shot because of the leaves.
Can you think of anything that sounds more fun than that ?
Seriously though, be safe and perhaps one day we can con you into making it all the way to Roanoke for a few days recreation.

Been reading through some old posts....

Charlie, I think you were right about the front tire. Too many heat cycles on the otherwise good looking Corsa. I had only one similar issue with the Syncs, but I think it must have been something on the road. Got the Corsa III's on with mold marks still intact for the track, and Bent Mountain.

Jackie, You may not realize how crazy I am?? Personal safety usually does not get realized until I look back and say "wow, that might not have been the best idea".
Like when I followed Nuts on the Uly when he turned off the gravel road we were on, onto some washed out, rutted, gravel trap that led to a cemetary in the middle of absolutely nowhere. I was on the SL with Corsas. No problems.

As far as the riding order goes, these are your roads so you go first for at least the first pass, maybe two. Then if I feel froggy???? So we should get plenty of video to critique.
