Thanks Jimmy. Yes, I just got in from a test run, and... and... WOW. Betty is a totaly different bike now. Throttle response is super crisp, I think I have a higher top end, but the road was too bumpy; need a steering damper for that!

Does anyone now how PayPal works? I got a refund from when I bought something, and they put it back in PayPal. How do I get a hold of it ?-$-? duh, der... what?

Talked with Stu today. Sez he really hopes to roll with us, but he may have a race that weekend. What a load of CRAP! Stu, this is a mandatory run. That's from the Prez his self!

sooner chil'ins, Galen

Galen

You will have to add your bank account information to your Paypal profile.
Once done, you will need to verify your account information. That takes about a week.
Following that you can request the money be transfered to your bank. Another week.

If you would like, you can send payment to me and I'll give you cash at Border Raid.

PM or phone me and we can arrange it if that helps.

Cheers
Jim

So Bob and I were gona ride on Saturday, but he had to work, of all things. So I went to HEMP FEST '07 in Seattle. All I can say is I was amoung friends! Well, mabey that isn't ALL I can say. I haven't been in a scene like that since 1970 when I was at the Satsop River Fair and Tin-Cup Races, and weed and rain were everywhere. I can almost remember the names of a couple of the bands that played back then. Let's see; the Bouys, with their song of cannableism in a mine cave-in, Timothy... and that guitar band what played 'Blue Skies, and High Tides Forever', ... and, and, hmmm.

So I wandered around listening to some Reggae, smokin' with new friends, and hollerin' "Legalise It!" like it was gona mean something. We were happy, the cops were frustrated, and all was well with the world.

At about 7:00 my herbsman and I met up and we went to the Edgewater Inn,( the famous site of the Led Zepplin 'MUDSHARK' incident...) to the HighTimes Green Cup '07! When we enetred the room a person handed each of us a new glass pipe with 'G. C. '07' blown into it, and a 7 -day pill planner marked M. T. W. T... each section stuffed with some of the Earths finest bounty, and a score card to grade them all for ...looks, smell, taste, high, and over-all... -PLUS- there were 5 containers , each with an oz. or two of things like, '... Purple Power, Limon Deisil, Cali Will, Qrange Crush to sample... ' -AND- they had 3 of these el Cabano sized blunts, but instead of a cigar wrapper, they were rolled in sheets of bubble hash. (bubble hash is made with a water process uesing a series of smaller, and smaller meshed nets to extract the pure resin) Each one burned about 45 min. and had every one incapaciated befor the judging could really begin. I felt like I was back in Canadiala!

But that will be next week!

My Friends,
The Aprilia is gone. It was so hard to see her go. Triumph will soon be gone as well. I know that in recent years I have been a dud to you all because of my inability to deal with my deteriorating physical condition. For that I appologize. I want you to know that despite the pain I have had the time of my life riding with you all. I have memories that are cherished and will always be with me. My sport bike days are indeed over and I am sad about that. But I also am so thankful for the experiences I have had. We have done things together my friends that not alot of people will ever exrerience in their lives. They say we are reckless and irresponsible. I say too bad for them to have to live such a bland, safe life. We had fun, risk, excitement, and comraderie. That is the essence of life in my book. Anyway, I'm obviously emotional right now and I'll stop my rambling. I hope you all realize how much I cherish you and our experiences together.

Right now I am going here and there trying to find relief for the pain. Got an appointment for a nerve induction test in two weeks. After the MRI it was obvious I have a problem, they are trying to narrow it down.

I am really thankful that I can at least still ride. If I lost that, I don't know what I would do. I now have a VTX 1800. I hope Lonnie will save room for me at the back.

Thank You for listening to my rant.
Take Care My Friends

" We had fun, risk, excitement, and comraderie."-Paul 'Cap' Lusk...

Paul, you just have to change that to we 'have' fun, risk, etc...
We will all be racing our wheelchairs, it's true, in what seems to be a blink of an eye, and driving the staff batscat! They thought the 'One flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' crew was a trip 'till they saw us.
Hope to see ya on that VCR 18000 up in Canadiala... the count down has started, and we can't stop the clock.

BORDERAID
BordeRaid ’07. Oh my God it was great. Everyone brought their ‘A’ game to Canadiala this year. Of course we always bring our best to the rides, but our best is getting better. A lot better. These rides are where we push our limits, find new edges to get close to, and be as alive as we know we can be...
So my ride started with me WAITING for Duane to show at the meeting spot. I puttered around looking for new bodies floating in the Green River for about an hour while Duane looked for his socks or something at home. (I still love you Duane) However, he did arrive, and we did depart, for our trip North. We got to have a little fun rolling up Snoquallmy Pass chasing a Porshe and a Volvo... We won... Bluit Pass was its usual fine self, big sweepers and fast passes. Also the run up the Wenatchee river into Chelan was clear of pesky automobiles. The rest of the roll up to the border was pretty un-eventful.
And then we fell into Pentictin, and the arms of our good friends; Mike from Bend, Chris and Loni, Shaun, Sporty Eric, JohnBoy, SaintJimmy (Full of Grace), and, and... I’m not sure who else, so I’ll apologize now. Sorry... We got our rooms, then together to eat, drink, and plan for tomorrow...
Now here’s an aside... I think we need a new place to hang as the Pentictin Casino and Money Hole is starting to loose its attraction. No hot tub, we had to use the service elevator, power outage in the bar... we could probably stay somewhere a little less expensive, and just party in the Barking Pumpkin. Anyway...
Now, I don’t know the name of the route we owned on Saturday, but it was a perfect start for the weekend. I remember a van with an old man and woman that we passed about 5 times, they couldn’t decide where they were going. There was the lady and her dog in the silver Audi who tried to lead for a little while. (We made sure it was only a little while) There was admittedly a little confusion caused by the absence of our usual gang leader, Bobert, and his consort, Debbie. We finaly put St. Jimmy in the front on his high-functioning Buell S-1, which made a great rabbit for all to chase. So much happened on Sunday that Saturday seems to have slipped into mediocrity, sad as that may sound for said Saturday’s ride.
However, Saturday came back with a strong rebound as the light began to fade. We smoked, drank, and toasted our missing riders. We smoked, drank, and missed our missing riders. Then we smoked, drank, and made fun of our missing riders. Ah, good times indeed. It needs to be noted here the actions of Loni, and her bottle of Vodka. She is so f ucking cute when she is totally blasted that it’s hard to describe in a way that does her justice. Suffice to say that she ended the night in love with everyone, and lost in laughter. A laughter that once heard, can never be forgotten!
So the sun rose on Sunday to breakfast at 8 and a departure set for 9. The plan was to do the East-Side road, then the run out to the Dingel-Berry Ferry, and lunch. The East-Side road had a few new obsticals installed since last year. Some crazy bitch was taking a walk in the middle of the road. I think we blew her clothing off as we passed. Then some crazy bastard parked his car in the on-coming lane, and went for a walk on our side of the road. He was looking at a bear up in a tree. We weaved between him and the car trying to get around his parked hulk-mobile. No paint was exchanged, and the bear was impressed! We re-grouped at the go-cart track, went into town for fuel, and to meet up with Dr. Dan.
The road starts out through open farm-land, goes into some tight, technical stuff, then opens into some really fast and beautiful rolling sweepers. Just befor the technical section, we came upon a group of about five riders, and when they saw that we were pretending we were running the Isle of Man, two of them split off and joined our group. These suckers were FAST, riding some four-banger imports that had probably something like fourty horses more than my bike, and they and Dr. Dan set the pace. It was just plain glorious. When we got through the tight twisties and on to the big sweepers, somehow they let me go and I was by myself out in front. My bike was running stronger than ever, thanks to Bob and St. Jimmy, and I got her up to an indicated 140 mph, not kilowackers, on some of the long straight sections, and roared through the sweepers around 120. I came around the last turn befor the ferry, and had a couple folks convinced that I was gona merge with a parked Jeep. They just didn’t know a bike could stop that fast!
OK, so were all re-grouped, made new friends with the folks we rode out with, and crossed the ferry for lunch. Now, since Betty wasn’t coming apart, Pazuzu had to find some other way to screw with me, so the Evil One decided to use one of the waitresses as his agent on earth that day. The crazy bitch charged me $8,438.43 for a cheeseburger. Now even in Canadialan money that’s a lot, so my bank FROZE my account, on account of them thinking some kind of fraud was being attempted. I called the bank and spent thirty min. screaming at the bank-drone I had on the phone befor she told me it was all straightened out now, and I belived her!

End of Part One.

Outstanding!
Sorry to all that I couldn't get onto 2 wheels for Border Raid. My kid made it to the second round of evaluations for Bantam Rep Hockey. Basically means that 13 and 14 year old kids(!), some around 6' tall and weighing 180 - 190 lbs. were shooting projectiles at my kid and he likes it! Yes goalies are a different breed. He had 2 more ice times on Saturday which we found out about on Friday night. My lovely wife was working so I had to step up. It's nice to have your words to read Galen. Any photos?
Hope everyone got home safe.

Harve, Harve, Harve. You just leave 'em $20 for cab fare and go. You really need a parenting coach. You totally missed one of my best rides ever. Hanging with the front group (from time to time, at least.) Possibly because our number one rabbit didn't have the balls to tell his boss to go pound for one of the best riding outings of the season.
The partying, while fun, ended uncharacteristically early every night. Are we getting old and boring or were we just lacking the spark of Bob and Deb's energy? Or did I ride as well as I did because I didn't have my usual blinding hang-over?
In any event, it was very much fun, day and night. Good roads. Great friends. And missing the missing ones.

BORDERAID pt.2

OK, so it took the bank drone over a half hour to ‘fix’ my card. I filled up with fuel, and went in to pay, only for SOME REASON my card still didn’t work. Imagine that. By now everything is pretty confused with everyone trying to pay, and since I TRIED to pay, I decided that was close enough and headed to the ferry. I have to admit I was still a little bit heated up when some cranky f uck decided he was annoyed with us for being able to get on before him, and pulled way up to the front of the ferry to block our egress with his big yuppie-Jeep. Like that was gona matter! (Cages don’t realize that they don’t exist to a motivated biker) So he was able to get off first. I passed Dr. Dan on the ferry ramp and took off after this dip-s hit full-tilt-boogie, and had him passed before the first turn. Ha Ha sez I.

So about 51 seconds later Dr. Dan was commin' up behind me, and I waved him on. Now, you all ever watch Star Trek? Ya know when the Enterprise slips it into Warp, and just flashes out to the Vanishing Point and is gone? Well... that was Dr. Dan. –poof- gone. Not even any dust to imply he was ever there. Now it's just me and all those curves. I knew this section was gona start out with the sweepers, and then transition into the tight stuff. Maybe it was the one beer, or maybe it was the adrenalin, but I was a lovin' it. Lovin' it so much, and riding so well, that I didn’t even notice when the road tightened-up. Just flew through that stuff like I was born to be there right then, so alive, so high... yummy.

We re-grouped at the first gas, talked a bit, and said fair-thee-well to the new friends we had shared lunch and corners with. Dr. Dan also split off for home, and our group headed for P-town. St. Jimmy, Duane, and I decided to just take the hi-way back rather than the East-Side road due to traffic and fatigue. (opps) So we are putting along and on-coming autos started flashing their lights as if to say, “COPS AHEAD DUDES", so we cut it back and just kept puttin' along, until ahead we see two or three cops standing in the middle of the road, wavin' their arms like they think they can fly, and pullin' us over. It was Déjà Vu all over again, sans bear trap. Well actually the bastards were pullin' almost EVERYONE over. Seems they had some sniper with a laser up in a tree pinging anything that moved. It was your typical bunch of police crap, and Duane was about to beat 'em up when self-control got the better of him, and we decided to accept our fate. $135.00 worth of fate. We rationalized our disappointment by thinking about what would have happened if they had found us at the speeds we were REALLY traveling earlier. We didn't think they would have understood us rollin' at 220 kph. So tickets in hand we started once more for P-town, and Shaun’s stash! We had to stop for gas again, and dang if my card wasn't still f ucked up! I had enough fuel to get back so I said f uckit and we started out for an un-eventful putter into Pentictin.

Now SportyEric has posted that we crashed (bad choice of words) fairly early, around midnight, and wondered if it was age or brilliance that was the motive factor. I for one think it was brilliance, and that our un-clouded minds did contribute to the exemplary riding skills displayed by all. For me the trade-off was well worth it... -zoom zoom-

Sunday night we decided to walk into town for dinner, only to discover that all the business's were now owned by Mormons, Muslims, or Moonies, and had closed at 6 pm. So back to the Barking Pumpkin we trudged, only to find that now there was a power outage in the bar, that they could only cook about three things on the menu, and we had to sit under fluorescent lights and squint at each other as we talked. All this for only $10,000. per night. This brings me back to maybe staying some where new next year. We talked about a new route that would take us a bit more easterly into some new fab territory.

(We also designed a new SuperSPLASH for next year. Regular SPLASH, to a track day at PIR, then down to Bend and Michael’s private stash of curly, twisty Oregonian tarmac for a couple days. He has an estate the size of Pluto with enough room to fit 1500 riders, and their mounts.)

So now for my last financial mishap. Michael decided to ride over hiway 2 with us, and we are getting gas on Monday morning. And my fricken' card still doesn't work! I call and find out that the last station that would not give me gas yesterday had somehow charged $97 to me when I did not get ANYTHING! -sheesh- I have decided to go back to the old family tradition of putting my $ under the mattress where it is safe from greedy bankers and their fiendish minions. Hiway 2 was not bad at all, traffic-wise, or weather wise. I pissed off a couple of Hog riders by passing and scaring their women folk, but I was gone before they could present their complaint to an un-caring me.

If I made one big mistake this ride, it was looking at myself from the driver’s seat of some of the cages I passed. I can admit that I probably made a couple guys piss their pants as I passed with perfect confidence three or four inches from the side of their vehicles. I know everything is alright, but I don’t think they do. I haven’t worked this conflict out to any conclusion as yet...

So Michael split back North, and Duane and I went South. We managed to avoid a huge traffic wreck that had I-5 at a standstill by Duane asking a local if their was a way around it. (there was) I think we might have gotten hit by fifty drops of rain the whole trip, it wasn’t to hot, or cold, in fact, I think this BordeRaid was just right.

we need to ride,
sooner, Galen

Anyone interested in doing the Isle of Vashon run on Sunday? Marcus and I are meeting at the Taco Time at Fauntleroy and 35th probably around 1030 or so. We'll be late for the run but will still do the loop and look at all the VME member's cool old bikes. Look for me on the big black VTX pig.
Hope to see some of you.

Galen, try resizing the image in an even multiple, such as 50% instead of 66.6% if you're not already doing so.

BTW, nice re-cap of the Labor day ride... You certainly have a way with words.
Too bad I had to work (ON Labor day - very boring) and missed out.

BTW, I found a forum for PNW Riders appropriately called http://pnwriders.com/.

It's for bikers in general and I've found other Buellers there. Rode with one on Thursday evening and had a fantastic time.

There's apparently a meet-up tonight at Famous Dave's BBQ in Tacoma starting @ 4pm.
I plan to be there.
