Hey Tank,
Is that idler spring loaded? That chain is not going to like being loaded as tight as the belt gets........Charlie

The letter is off and the Yamaha is in the shop for the engine knock diagnosis. Hopefully I'll be on the road again here soon. NUTS

Charlie,
Nope, not spring loaded, but very adjustable and not as tight as it looks.(the master link wasn't even installed) Trying to go for about 1" of up/down movement on the bottom side. Loose enough to never bind, but not so loose that it could de-rail.

Jackie,
Off-roading is hard on lots-o-stuff, not just the bike. Take care of yourself, and be safe out there. You are giving me an itch to go tearing down the path less traveled. Now, if I just had a bike to do it with....

Oh I resisted making foolish, financially irresponsible decisions for yet another day
But it sure is fun!

Tank,
YOU MUST SCRATCH THAT ITCH!!
Since Nuts refuses to be financially irresponsible then the task falls upon you to go out and get yourself deep in debt .

The chain conversion looks awesome! I couldn't do it though since I would always be worrying about the chain slapping enough to hit and scratch the swingarm.
So are you leaning towards gettin' her streetworthy or making a track bike?
Still waiting on the pictures of her sitting ther all nekked.

Torts, where were those pictures taken? It looks a lot like the countryside around Burkes Garden, but I assume you didn't ride that far.

Jim,
The pics were taken in Floyd Co. which is just next door to Roanoke.
That short liitle ride messed me up for 2 days so there ain't no way I'll be making a Burkes Garden run unless I trailer it there and then ride LOL.

YES!
It will definitely be legal with full coverage and all. But, it will likely become the "track toy" as well.

I thought I posted the pic of the bike posing as a stripper, but I guess not. Here it is....

I hope you get that bird so you will cheer up!
Probably shoot one and still be shuffling your feet with your head hung low, mumbling to yourself "it only has a 14in beard, it only weighs 37 pounds".
You are now that glass half empty guy that my used to be thick skinned buddy from Florida warned me about.
Seriously though I do hope you bag one to lift your spirits a bit. If anybody deserves one at this point it is you.

This should make you feel better. My Airoh is a hair to big. Tried it with a stocking hat and it fits nice and snugly. Whats a brutha gonna do though wear a stocking hat under his helmet in the Summer?

Tuesday morning I have an appointment with the area representative from Buell/HD to test ride the bike. I OK'd the tag-along preliminarily today. I'll arrive early and get the Uly good-n-hot, before she takes it out. It was suggested that I take it out and she might follow on another bike, hopefully the PING will scare the bealzibub out of her as I come flying past!

On the other front I took the Yamaha gas tank over to Salem today to have all the paint smoked off. That must be one helluva bowl!LOL I'll see what the real rust content is that way and proceed to making it right. It's going to have a black tank before long, just unsure whether to keep the plastics white or give them the generic bed coat black too. I'm almost NUTS again.

No doubt!
Sounds like a scene from Cheech & Chong!

On a bike note...

POPS to the rescue...
With the oxy/acetelene torch! I completely forgot we had the thing. 3 minutes and the pulley was off. The bolts broke loose like they weren't even torqued down.

Got the Corsa 3's yesterday. and I'm ready to drag everything to the tire shop(Duc dealer). The 3's are going on the amber rims, and I'll have them swap the Corsa off the rear wheel with the spun bearing onto the wheel that came with the bike. I'll have an extra set of wheels again.
(even if they are amber)

Actually, I'm thinking about a white, full faired bike, with amber and red accents. Not too much amber, but enough to go with the wheels. And red Daytona stripes.(at the moment)

Tank,
Nothing better than a big ole', clean pair of jugs .
The pipes turned out pretty good and therefore I may give you a pass when I inspect them in person.

I think I pushed a certain person to the brink of financial irresponsibilty today so I am anxious to see what tomorrow brings. I ain't the best person to have around when you are trying to make real world, grown up decisions .

Jackie posted earlier....

Funny.....Last night I caught myself on the Toyota website "building" a Tacoma just the way I would want it. Sweet truck, but the $30K price tag stomped that idea right out of existence real quick.

I know that the "R" is the extent of my financial irresponsibility for a good while, but I still keep looking. And the fact that my "S" is almost paid off, and I could easily get a loan is not helping.

Tank, I am a Tacoma maniac! Mine is an 03 v6 4x4 extended cab. Fabtech 6" lift sitting on measly 31" tires. It's dubbed "The Show Pony" by all my friends as I have yet to take it offroad with any seriousness. I have wanted a Toyo 4x4 since seeing "Back to the future" when I was a yungun. It's the only vehicle I have every really lusted after and I hope to have it when my kids arrive. By then it'll be sporting some real tires.

On the other front well, I am NUTS. I would have sworn this morning there was no way I would be hauling something red home. But after riding 3 bikes, the red one left the biggest grin. She's an 06 with 2000 miles on it and a bashed in gas tank. Easily remedied. I will now be striking fear into the hearts farmers everywhere! I thought Torts was going into convulsions when he pulled up to help unload her. NUTS needs his rest for now because I will be heading out for a day of riding in the AM. NUTS.......is back!

"Back to the Future"

Oldskool Brutha! Those trucks were on the road forever. Still see one now and then.

After I bought the Jeep, new, I promised myself that I would never buy another "new" vehicle. But that 07' Tacoma is very tempting. Lusting after the 6spd manual.

So, what happened? Trade the other bike in?
Enquiring minds want to know!!!

Toyota 4X4 with a 6inch lift and the brutha makes ME drive my Escape to the gun club or when we go fishing .
Seriously though, the Escape has taken me places I never dreamed possible for such a little SUV. I absolutely love mine and plan on keeping it in the family for my oldest daughter to drive in a few years.

I think Nuts made a wise decision on his new toy. HONDA, enuff' said !
We are going to take the twin Big Red Pigs up Wildlife Rd. tomorrow and try out some creek crossings and such.
Expect ample photos to start hitting the board around 10:00pm tomorrow evening.

Honestly....

I have driven a Jeep for over 10 years. It is my Rock. Never has it failed, not once, on any terrain. Not traveling the interstate at 80+, or skating on top of the sand on the outer banks, or gripping the rocks on a "funky" mountain trail, or towing the bike trailer, and one "quick"(for a Jeep) trip through the Gap. She stuck like glue.

Had to edit...
The Jeep has seen some nasty mudholes, pulled bushes from the ground, pulled trucks from the ground, met high speed curbs(remind me to tell you..), met high water and laughed, and always knows the way home after a drink(or five).

I have been hard on it, and it just keeps giving smiles.

I might just keep her...

Do ya'll think I can cope with a "Jap" truck?? I have my doubts.

I have a friend with a 93 Toyota P/U. 180,000+ miles. Oil changed once a year (maybe). Clutch replaced five years ago and it still has good A/C. Oh he also covers up the rust spots with surfboard wax. That thing'll be around foe a good long while. I feel it isn't so much the manufacturer just the individual vehicle. It sounds like the Jeep and the Escape are both gems. I say keep em so you can have more bikes! NUTS
