Okay, not a Buell specific event, rather an Adventure Rider event that applies, and should appeal, to many of us here.

For those of you who haven't been before, Death Valley, at the right time of year, is an awesome place to visit. It offers wonderful desert landscapes, many historical landmarks, great photo opportunities, and a range of paved and unpaved roads that will suit most riders, something for all skill levels.

We usually just hook up with the IBMWR folks who plan their trip out there late January.

Next years IBMWR group DVDaze is scheduled January 25-27, 2008

More information can be found here - http://dvdaze.org/

So, any takers?

For those that haven't been before, or those that have and need a memory jog, here are some pictures from the trip there last year

Cheers
-Jack

There is no official sign-up - the list on AVDrider will give you an idea of the folks that are attending.

Just get yourself booked into a walk-in camp spot at the Furnace Creek camp ground

Reservations can be made at http://www.recreation.gov/camping/Furnace_Creek/r/ campgroundDetails.do?agency=NRSO&parkId=70978

Price is about $14 a night

There are also hotel and cabin options for those interested.

Let me know if you end u going and we'll see if we can hook up or a beer or two on Saturday night at the Corkscrew Saloon.

Cheers
-Jack

Dante's Peak - yes Sir.

Buellrider11960 - do encourage her to come along. The desert scenery is outstanding, the sunsets are beautiful, and then there's evening star gazing - simply amazing...

Death Valley is on my list of places to go back to someday. I don't think I can swing next month though.

If anyone needs encouragement to go, go. You'll have a great time.

Rex,
Please keep me informed of the plans. Maybe a SoCal Contingent will meet there. I'll spread the word.

Is it a camping thing, or a hotel thing, or both? Where are folks staying?

Al

Rhinowerx,

I wish you would join us. There will be a group of "already in Nevada" Buellers meeting us in Beatty as well.

Beatty dosen't have camping facilities but Furnace Creek has a decent campground area. If you have plans to be there make reservations at the hotel in Beatty or the campground in Furnace Creek ahead of time. April is a busy time in the Death Valley area, the weather is usually just right for being out in it(not to hot not to cold). Choose your places of indoor recreation well, Furnace Creek is very expensive but beautiful,Beatty is reasonable but kind of bleak so plan well and pack snacks and drinks for your rides and tours. No one should miss the short branch saloon in Crystal nevada, Just south of Beatty, Miss Kathy is the best hostess in the west. If any one is unsure of where to go or what to see, all are welcome to inquire.Bueltrain and I are available most any time and are fairly familiar with the area. Both of us ride Buells and cruisers and have covered most of the area. We'll see you there!
