Jerry, I'll be hunting GIF's tonight! NUTS

cool. : )

Actually my oldest, Carlee and I had a blast on Snake Creek Rd on the M2. I think it crosses the BRP at 210? and runs to US-58 on the way to Hillsville. It was like riding a roller coaster.

sounds nice Carlos, will have to check it out. between the weather, work and the house, last Saturday is the first time we've ridden since we got here - MUCH exploring to do. : )

I am currently running the Road Attacks on the motard wheels on my HP2. Seem to be good tires but I can definately make the rear slip when pushing them. Nothing major and very controllable. The best pure street tires I have run were the Michilin Pilot Powers. If I was contemplating dirt road fun I would look for a blocky tread pattern as a little bite goes a long way in the dirt .... unless you're in the clay mud, then all bets are off.

Carlos - if you still have the same tires as the last time I saw your bike, I don't think you have the contiforce tires. Here is what their tread pattern looks like:

Here is the Sport Attack tread pattern which is more of what I remember yours looking like:

Nuts - I'm not sure if you're offering me those tires or asking about them for yourself. I'll be getting mine from Cyclegear so I can get them to mount/balance the tires for me. $200 is a good deal. If you're interested, I'd recommend trying them out. I don't remember the exact mileage I got out of them, but they lasted me all of last summer. I've got 17,750 miles on a 14 month old bike, so I'd guess thats between 4 and 5 thousand miles.

I don't know the mileage I got from the Syncs either (I never write this stuff down.) I do remember that I still had the Conti's on there when I met you at Deals Gap in September. I put the Syncs on there shortly after that. The are worn out after 5 months of winter. Thats probably 3 to 4 thousand miles.

I can't tell the difference between the handling of Syncs and Contiforce's. I'm sure some people can. The advantage of the Syncs is they have a motard tread pattern which should handle off road better than the Conti's. I've never tested that theory. In the Conti's court are longer tire life and cheaper tires.

I can definately make the rear slip when pushing them.

I lack the testicle volume to pull that off.

Carlos had the Sport Attacks first, then we had the back tire replaced with the ContiForce. This is the tire currently on the Uly. I'm sure it's his style of riding, but the fact that his style hasn't changed and we've had tires last twice as long, the Conti's aren't working here (in my opinion).

Of course, I'm spoiled. I got 65,000 miles out of my Michelins on my Suburban. I had NO idea how expensive it was to keep motorcycles in tires or how often they are needed.

As long as we are talking about tires, here are the prices I just got from cycle gear. These are front+rear and include a 10% discount for buying both.

Contiforce - $198.81
Road Attack - $225.58
Scorpion S - $241.12

Jim, the problem with the contiforce's is they are discontinued. Replaced by the road attacks. Should you decide to run two rears in the time it takes you to wear out a front you might find yourself; without one available.

As to the offer, I wasn't sure you had a place down there that treated you fairly. If you need a set installed at a fair price I know a guy is all. Admittedly it's a bit of a ride for you. It seems like Cycle gear has decent prices, fortunately we do not have one here. I really try to spend my hard earned casholla in places that appreciate it from the bottom to the top. Those big stores kinda give me the creeps. But I am NUTS

Hey I know a guy in greensboro, If you are willing to travel he will take the wheels off the bike and put them back on while you wait. About the same pricw as you would pay cycle gear off the bike. Larry

Oh and he has pretty good prices too.

Hey everyone, been swamped here at work. Jim, thanks for the good words you posted about our chat. I do what I can for the Buellers. Did you notice our Buell wall? It has taken time, but a couple of departments are buying in. I wanted to post a reminder about the Buell/BadWebber riding class. I have class 202 March 23 and 24 set up as the Buell class. On the 23rd at 6pm, we will be in the classroom going over paperwork and the group riding module. At 8 am on the 24th, we will meet at Walnut Creek for the range exercises. We normally all head to a nearby Smithfield's for lunch. I have 3 employees and one random signup. That leaves 8 more spots. If you would like to be in a Buell/Badweb only class, I need the actual signups done online asap. Your card will not be charged until a few days before the course. During our training for the SRC, I rode an exercise on my XB12R with a Duc ST2 and a gsxr600. It was fun with them, I am sure it will be more fun with mostly Buells. If ya'll want to make this happen, go to http://www.rayprice.com/riders-form.htm click on the skilled rider course signup form, fill out all your info with class 202 as your 3 choices. I really want to see this happen.

On another note, I have ran multiple sets of the Avon Azaro's sport touring tires and have averaged over 8k on the rears and around 12 on the front. I will say though that I am not aggressive about exiting curves. I pretty much just slightly accelerate out of them, so I am not sure how the react to aggressive corner carving. The av45's and 46's have been replaced with a new model, I will be trying them next time.

Hey guys, long time no post.

Some guys I know are planning a ride for this Saturday to take advantage of the nice weather. No details yet, probably leaving around lunchtime from the Apex area and riding for at least an hour or so. There will likely be some Harleys along so the overall pace will probably be mild, but the lead guy has a tendency to wick it up from time to time. If anyone is interested let me know, I'll post up the details as I get them.

Before our C3-Octoberfest in Boone I needed tires and I could not find Syncs in town. Kristi found at a local shop, the Contis. Originally I had the ContiForce front tire and a Sport Attack rear. They are very neutral and stick like glue but the Sport Attack Rear wore out in 2600 miles. That is the worst I have ever managed and I did not ride any hard with it as any of the other tires I have had on the bikes.

Nighthawk
Dunlop K505 - Bias-ply tire.
Rain Tire - Fair
Tire life versus traction - Below Average - Best tire life but terrible over uneven, grooved pavement, tar snakes and painted lines.
Turn in - Best - Almost as good as the Pirelli when new and tires stay good through the life of the tires.
Front 11,000 miles,
Rear - 5500 miles

M2
Dunlop D205 -
Rain Tire - Second best
Tire life versus traction - Best
Turn in - Worst, tires are very neutral
Front 9,000 miles,
Rear - 5200 miles (5700 miles best)

Uly
Dunlop D616 -
Rain tire - Best and for me the best off road.
Tire life versus traction - Good traction with decent tire life.
Turn in - unsettled feel
Front 8,000 miles when changed out with tread left. Tires cupped and caused the bike to weave at freeway speeds
Rear - 4000 miles (4400 miles best)

Pirelli Diablo Strada -
Rain tire - Close third behind the D205
Tire life versus traction - Below Average. Almost as bad as the K505 over uneven pavement, grooves, tar snakes and painted line. Also the rear tire lasted as long or almost as long as the D205, but the rubber compound on the center of the front tire is terrible in comparison to the D205. With the D205 I wear out the sides of the tire and the center groove always stays, while I flat spotted the Strada so badly that the turn in is compromised badly enough I remove it from the bike before it was worn out.
Turn in - Best of all the tires when front tire was new.
Front 5,500 miles when changed out with tread left.
Rear - 5000 miles

ContiForce / Sport Attack
Rain Tire - Good
Tire life versus traction - Fair - Best traction but worst tire life.
Turn in - Fair, tires are very neutral, but not as bad as the D205.
Front 4,000 miles and counting. Another 1,500 miles left
Rear - 2600 miles on Sport Attack - 1600 and counting on Contiforce with 1000 miles left.

the AV45's and AV46's have been my favorite sport-touring tire for several years now, long life but good grip.
