When my father passed I was given his 97' Sportster 1200s. I currently live someplace that if I were to keep the screaming eagle exhaust on, I would most likely be asked to leave. I was browsing craigslist and found some factory take off pipes from a 12' Sportster 48.

My question...

Besides plugging up the o2 bung holes with bolts, would there be any issues with mounting these up on my 97'? It seems that the 97 has a high cross over tube just under the breather, but the 48 has the cross over tube in the exhaust bracket. I'm just curios before I start tearing down the bike for the swap.

This answer is probably too late to do you any good. They most likely won't fit not a lot of things are interchangeable between solid mount bikes and rubber mount bikes.

Sporties went rubber mount in 06? so not sure if those would fit. Id look on Ebay as there's typically dozens of stock systems for sale cheap. You sure the head pipes arent stock and all you'll need are a couple muffs? dont feel like your the only one in the boat your in. here in Ca their crackin down, personally lots of noise is just lots of noise, it gets old after a few hundred miles of riding.

2004 is rubbermount. They waited until everybody bought their '100th Anniversary' model, and then went with the big change. To get people to trade in their 100th A. model? Very disappointing how they did that.
