Join AMA, BRAG or HOG with most insurance each along with MSF will get you a sizable discount..

Corrupter, what insurance company are you with right now? How much do you pay?

BTW, I went to Allstate to let them know I belong with BRAG and HOG. They don't list BRAG as a supported group but they have HOG. So, I'm waiting to find out how much of a discount I get.

Holy hell!!!! I just checked that same website from kow. They want $3500 a year. Screw them.

My rate is similar to M1combat's.

I'm insured to the gills with liability, comp, collision, and importantly. . . uninsured motorist. Dairyland agent quoted me $1200 when I was at the dealer closing the deal. My first year's premium was $940 after discounts and a mid year correction (reduction). My renewal for this year was $630. Isn't the safe rider discount grand! I'm single and under 40. I live adjacent to the third world.

I live here in South Carolina where we have some of the worst insurance rates in the country. I called Harley Davidson Insurance the other day to check their rates and they quoted me a little over $600.00 a year for full coverage on me for my 2003 XB9R and my wife's 2003 V-Rod. Their phone number is 1-866-895-4711. It might be worth the phone call, it was for me

Corrupter,

I guarantee your rate was so astronomically high because you put that you had no recent insurance in the last 6 mo...

I ran into the same thing when I canceled mine. Put down that you've been insured and the rate will drop... You'll see.

Thansesxb9rs,
As far as HD ins being high, they got me the lowest rate through Dairyland. I'm thankful for HD ins. brokers.

There appears to be a big difference between XBS and XBR. In fact, my insurance (Erie) does not even insure XBR, even though they insure XBS. I'm paying around $400/yr for full coverage. Go figure.

Wow,
I have full coverage on the following.
2004 Boom trike
2003 XB9R
2000 Harley (1200)
2000 Dodge van
1989 Citron

All with a 500 Ded.= $340 a month. I'm 38 with no claims or tickets. USAA may not be so bad after all.

Yeah, I have State Farm too. I pay $190 per year. Other policies help (multi-line) because I have my house, car, truck and bike all with State Farm. I also think being married and over 25 a big help too.

Was quoted over $1000 for 2004 XB12S with collision. But I got just liability for $400 for the year. Clean record in South Louisiana.

Okay, so for some of you guys it looks like if you kept full coverage on your bikes that within 5 years you could of bought another XB if you'd stowed the money in an account and gone with less insurance.

Granted it helps not having a loan where full coverage is not necessary.

Good day~

When I got my XB9S, I was 2 months away from turning 25. My insurance for those first two months was $430 a month. Absolutely ridiculous! When I turned 25, it dropped to $50 a month for the same coverage. Now I have my Buell, a '92 sportster, my '00 jetta, renter's, and life on the same policy. All of that comes to $260 a month. Not too bad if you ask me. I know my brother, he's 22, is paying almost $200 a month for his XB12R. We're both with State Farm...and insurance always seems to be higher in South Florida than a lot of other places.

Big Harley38- that sounds high to me. I'm 40, no claims or tickets (lately) and have full coverage on the following at $180 per month with USAA. Location may have lots to do with it though-
2004 XB12S
1983 FXWG
2000 Chevy Silverado Z71
1999 Chevy Tahoe Z71
1985 Jeep CJ7
2002 Polaris 500 Sportsman 4 wheeler
2002 Polaris 325 Trailblazer 4 wheeler
2002 8x14' enclosed trailer
1989 18' Bayliner

Big difference I think.....

Yea, I know.......I even sold the wifes Sporty too!! I'm in the downsizing mode now though. The wife wants a Denali or Yukon XL so I'm gonna sell the truck (makes it easier for me to get the F250 Crewcab FX4 Superduty that I want in about a year!) and sell her Tahoe. I'm also selling the WideGlide as I don't ride it at all since the XB. That will help a little I think!!!

I didn't know you were in Germany. I remember ours went up a little when we went over there. I have full coverage on all of it whether it's paid off or not. Deductables are mostly $500 with a few $1000. Have some Schweinesteak and a Hefe for me!!! Later, Odie

ok yall wanna really get the crap scared out of u about insurance i got a price quote lastnight from progressive (22, male, married, one tiket full coverage for a xb12r) it came out to be over $6,000. My thoughts was i could just buy a decent used xb9 for sapre parts for that price. then i went i tryed cycle guard which was alot cheaper but still kinda high they wanted like almost $3000. Then i decided since the bike im getting will not be financed i might as well jsut get liablity and so i got another quote from gieco for just liabilty and it ened up being only like $280 so because if i wast all tat money on insurance i could just save it up and have my own little stash to fix my bike if anything goes wrong. Hopfully that wont happen of course and if it dont ill have money for another bike or something to that effect. Just my thoughts on these outragus insuraces

Shop around more.

I got quotes like that (27, single, no tickets recently) and found a place for ~700/Yr.

One more note about insurance. It's a law to carry insurance on your bikes/vehicles, yet there are no laws governing these insurance companies rates and premiums. IF IT'S GOVERNMENT MANDATED, IT SHOULD BE GOVERNMENT REGULATED.
