Just got my parts catalog in the mail.

This thing has part numbers and exploded views of every nut, bolt, gasket, hose, cover, widget, and even the the freakin' warning stickers!!!

A little pricey, but just thumbing through it, I can tell it will be worth it's weight in gold in the future.

Thanks Mr. Buell and establishment.

The exploded diagrams can be very handy as a quick reference as well, I often found myself with that manual open to the relevant page sitting above the main service manual.

When I used to make a living as a flat rate mechanic at a dealership with multiple Japanese brands, you know, 62 diffewrent models, no common parts, I found the parts books way more valuable than the service manuals.

Got my Service and Parts Manuals before Christmas. You know I long for Spring when I find myself looking through them for no apparent reason.

They will be invaluable when I do my SL to S conversion, though.

Man, I can't wait for Spring!!!

I hate to have to buy the service manual just for the torque specs!

Brad: The conversion shouldn't be too tough; do you have to change the whole front fork or just the springs??

Hey Frank-

I could do either option with the front forks. It depends on how bad I want to tear down each fork to exchange the spring. I'm seriously leaning toward swapping both forks and selling the LOW version on ebay.

MUCH easier to swap the forks and rear shock assembly. Some 3%ers Swapped out hardware from a XB9SL to a XB9R and vice versa.

Hey Will-
Real certain that I'll do the swap. I already picked up the rear shock assembly. Now I just need to bite the bullet for the front forks. Oh, and also the S kickstand.

Like the turn signals on your XB!

The fork swap would be cake compared to the springs.

I hate to have to buy the service manual just for the torque specs!

Tank...I have a 2003 Buell, XB9S...and a parts catalog. Does your catalog have the the tool kit in it? I got the little tool kit with my bike, but it did not have the solid double nut to remove the front and rear axles. I have improvised with a bolt and two double nuts, but I would like to purchase/order the double nut-axle remover. If your catalog has the part number, what is it? Or, can anyone else provide the number for me? I am in Korea, so I don't have ready access to a Harley/Buell dealer to ask these questions. Thanks fellow Buellers.

I really like the looks of that. I've seen alot of bikes with that tail section removed, but I kinda like mine. But hate the "cheese grater" thing. I think, (when I recover financially from buying my wife a new harley jacket for Christmas) I'll be getting one of those.

It's NOT a cheese grater - though that has a cheese-head/Milwaukee kinda feel - it's a pasta extruder.

That graphite piece looks TONS better

part #:C2040.02A8

I would hit Dave with and e-mail.

He can most likely get it to you for the cheapest price!

I don't know if he caught the "I'm in Korea" part of your post. That doesn't mean you want it shipped there does it?????

Tank

Thanks so much for the part number. I am at a U.S. base, so I get my mail through the U.S. Postal Service. I have ordered motorcycle parts before, so really it is not a problem, although some dealers don't want to fill out the customs form...really pretty simple. However, I will touch base with Dave...

BTW, since I am on the other side of the planet, my postings may be out of sync with everyone else...sorry guys...Again, thanks for the info Tank...I will get that part one way or the other...kind of a tool nut anyway.

Come for the data, stay for the torque specs.

Buell has gone to extraordinary lengths to produce the best manuals in the business. I suggest owners manual, parts manual and service manual for any bike you own.

Court,

Dem's just jokes, man!

I should have ordered the service manual weeks ago, but I've been waiting to find a deal and it looks like I found it with "Brupska" from above post!

Once I have the service manual, I will have the "trifecta" of manuals you mention.

thanks,

Best bet is to get ahold of one of the Badweb dealers (DaveS, without trying to show favortism, could quote the parts in his sleep) and get the list of parts you need.
