Has it be done ? Planning to put forks and upper/down triple t on a Buell XB12S. Looks like a direct swap but i'm in doubt because of fork legs are probably longer than oem XB.

What do you think ?

Can some one mesure the fork leg length with the bike on ground ?

Thanks

I'd think that the axle/wheel spacing would be the only issue. iirc the bigger forks were spaced farther apart in the triple trees and used a longer axle
you should be able to swap springs and/or adjust pre-load to get the desired ride height

What's the gain ?

You still have a single disc (would be my main concern for swapping front ends !), you still have up-side-down forks. The only thing I see is a larger diameter fork tube.!?

Swap in an R1 or GSXR twin disc front end if you want a gain.

@Nillaice:

if axle/wheel spacing would be the issue, an EBR rim with axle is the direct fit solution

@1 mike:

the gain is:

there is a cheap pair of new fork on ebay, about 400 dollars. I also own a Panigale 899 with this forks and like the look.

Look what EBR front wheels go for before you think it's a cheap swap.

first try :

EBR 1190 SX/RX low tree with EBR 1190 SX upper tree ). All match perfectly with EBR 1190 forks without mods on a XB frame ( i still don't have a 1190 front rim )

edit upper tree from the 1125r just don't work because about 1-2 mm offset on the center axle , both legs enter perfectly

Rotor -

I'd think you'd need the whole "wheel", not just the "rim"..!

All that work for looks...I'd much rather have the better functioning brakes of dual discs for the work involved.

@ mike: here in switzerland we have to check every two years the bike for ilegal mods and bike condition. No way to put dual brake disks. But a front end from a 1190rx just look oem. In the same " spirit of mind " i have a bigbore engine ( it's the worst mod you can do here ) but with stock exhaust, to look legal. You understand me now ?

just not sure what the difference between rim and wheel but yes, i need to find a front wheel now

EBR Forks are Showa BPF, which is a nice upgrade over the stock forks, but it uses a 30mm front axle, so you need the EBR axle and wheel assembly, which also requires the EBR specific front rotor hardware (not the same as the hardware they offer for XB/1125 wheels). You can get away with using 1125R triples for the EBR forks on a Firebolt, but there is no easy option for Lightnings, since neither the CR not SX triples will work unmodified for S gauges and headlight modules.
