After an oil change yesterday one of my lower faring screws would not go in and I did not want to force it.

All the others went in without any problems

I suspect that I have to chase the threads in the hole but I do not know what size tap to use.

Does anybody know what size this is ?

That's pretty common, I just did exactly that last weekend (again).

I forget which tap I had to use, but I am pretty sure I went over and grabbed it from the SAE box, not the metric box. It's a very common size.

Yes it's SAE; 1/4-20.
