I purchased my 03xb9r from the dealer on 6/30/04. The bike was a demo but was sold as new and included the factory warranty. I also spent 800 and purchased the extended warranty.

2 weeks ago the spark plug was blown right of the head, stripping the threads as it came out. I brought the bike to a dealer and showed them all of the paperwork. They told me this would be covered under the warranty. They would either get a new head, weld and re-tap the plug or do a helicoil.

All of my service records are in order and there has never been any service to the plugs. they are just as they came from the factory.

So far I have not been able to get the warranty work completed. The initial request was flat out denied for factory warranty and I have yet to get an explanation. The service dept is being helpful in trying to get the factory to take care of this. I have also called these people at the service center and have gotten nowhere.

The extended warranty won't cover this because it's under factory warranty, yet the factory won't cover it because ???

This has been a very frustratring experience for me. I plan to make some more calls on Monday to the factory, but who knows how far I'll get.

I really love my bike, but if this what I am going to have to go through when it breaks down while still under warranty... Damn I really don't want to get rid of it...

I've NEVER heard of that happening.

If they won't replace the head under warranty, contact a lawyer.

Be polite and respectful but firm and patient and call the factory.

Maybe the dealer
1-hasnt processed the necessary paperwork to get the demo warranty transfered
2- isnt using the correct codes to get the clima paid for
You right with the ext .warranty, they wont pay untill its out of the demo warranty ( which is the same a new vechicle, if I rember correctly ). this sounds very strange , what with the self ejecting spark plug and all. Wonder waht caused it ?
