The instrument housing on the 2005 XB12R I just bought looks like it has been repaired at some point. Almost looks like sun may have distorted or has been plastic welded. To replace is it just a matter of removing internals or is this one of the situations I should live with? Thanks in advance for help.

The cluster is easy to take apart, you can move the guts into a new shell. Unfortunately, you can't buy just the shell, so you would need to find an entire cluster to do the swap with.

Also, the aftermarket Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen is known to cause the clusters to melt if the sun hits it right.
