Is this a reason to replace it, or just a cosmetic thing? My uly had visual defects in the potting compound but they weren't corresponding to any major heat-generating components in there. My regulator got weak but didn't fail outright. I dug into the potting to see if there was anything I could see but found nothing. I dug that whole little board out and there was no smoking carnage to see! I signed up for a show dammit! Like Nate says, get a voltage monitor, it can save your bacon and give you an early warning that something is wrong. Got home twice. Once I only got to a bar where the owner offered to hook me up on a charger that got me home after taking time for a leisurely lunch.
