I'm having trouble locating a good spot for my inspection sticker. The dealership put it on the back side of some silly little piece of sheet metal protruding around the bottom of the license plate. Not only can you not see see sticker, the piece they stuck it on looks awful.

Where do you guys have yours? Are there any regulations (Texas) governing how visible the inspection sticker must be?

Thanks in advance.

Don't live in TX, but I do have a need for a bracket on the bike. The previous owner had a friend fab a nice bracket where the left rear reflector once was. It had 3 holes so I could choice my location for the piece of metal. Here's what it looks like with my "Proof of Purchase" sticker (not really just looks like one). "Proof of Purchase" sticker bracket

In addition, I have had conversation with DPS in Texas. The texas code reads something like "the state inspection sticker must be attached near the rear of the motorcycle". I confirmed with DPS that it does not have to be able to be seen from the rear of the bike like the license plate does.

Is this a safety inspection or something?

Yep,

Safety Inspection.

In Texas they check your horn, lights, turn signals, brake pads, and tires, once a year. I think it cost $12.00 this year. Oh yeah, you also have to show proof of insurance.

We used to have that.
Now it's just emissions.
Nothing for bikes though.

We have registration/safety stickers (VA) that usually go on the front forks. The dealer I use for service has placed them on a piece of sheet metal and is attached to a frame member-looks good but no pic.

Here's what I did but I have to have it visible to go thru the gate on post. It is just some T4 aluminum filed and sanded down smooth. Won't rust and is flexible enough to bend where you need it. I mounted it on the top bolt of the oil cooler and lock-tited it when I put it back on......Odie

Odie, I was wondering where I could mount another plate if they ever require us to have em here on post. Yet to fully inforce it here.

Tgroghan, if your gate guards are on your left side then I would mount it where I did. If they are on your right then I would mount it on the bolt on the forks that holds your front brake line snug to the bottom triple tree. Just lay out your stickers as needed and draw a few lines before you cut and then smooth it out with a file and sandpaper. Under the forks I would go horizontal versus vertical. Might want to use a plastic washer to prevent scratching. Make sure you use aluminum so as to prevent rusting. Lowes, Home Depot has small sheets if you don't have any laying around. If you want I can take a better, close-up pic of mine for you and post it ASAP. Glad to help. Let me know......Odie

"Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa"

No inspections, stickers or emission testing on bikes or cars in Iowa.

Firebolt, I have put my stickers on magnetic sheets before and stuck them to the tank to get thru the gate and then put them in my back-pack but that was before they gave you 10 square feet of stickers to put on! You could still do that and put them on your frame and then take them off. I need to get thru the gate quickly so more visible is better than less. Technically they are supposed to be "attached permanently" to the vehicle.........

Where I put my base decal on mine.

Base Sticker
Closer Look

Can't see it from the front, only from the side or angle. (That stripe down the middle is gold reflective, the flash lit it and the base sticker up)

Better there than on my tank like others have done. Not knockin their decision, just like this position better than any of the others I've seen or could think of.
