hey guys,
I just picked up a salvaged title 08 xb12scg-
I think it's '08- the left frame sticker says "this 2008..." and the right side says manufacturer's date July 07... Has the larger cam cover and redline at 7100... thoughts?
Nice bike, smooth, handles well... just had to do some creative lighting, fairing mods because of a crash (cut light holes in a nice ktm dirtbike skid plate I had laying around).
I'd like to get a little more off the line grunt from it. I live in a city and a lot of fun comes from blasting off the line. Will a muffler and new ecm do the trick? I don't necessarily want to make it much louder, just more powerful- and I'm trying to keep this my custom/low budget bike.
Any feedback is appreciated on type of exhuast, modding original, and other ways to liven up the power- switch to chain drive and change gearing maybe...
And if anyone knows a good Buell mechanic in the SF Bay Area...
Cheers

You can swap to a XB9 primary gearing. It drops the gearing by about 10% IIRC. It won't mess up the speedo reading either, that reads from the trans output shaft.

Cool, I'll look into that option, thanks

Here's the kit from American Sport Bike. It gives an 11% lower gear. Looks like the no longer sell it, but it details what you need. It's a pretty straight forward change over.

Production of the next year model begins typically June or July, so yes you have a 08

First thing I would do is get a race ECM for stock exhausts from EBR. It significantly improves low end response.

Thanks guys, I'll try the race ECM first.
