I like the colored see thru air box covers like I saw on an XB12R.. would that fit right up on my 09 XB12 XT? is there one in smoke grey? O think I've seen it in blue.. anyone have a front fender from the X to sell? |

To the best of my knowledge it should fit just fine. I was originally going to do the same things myself. I am currently running a black XB12R airbox cover & front fender on my Uly. I thought it would be very slick to put LEDs on the inside of the clear cover. I might still do that but I've decided to save up for the CF cover from American Sport Bike with CIA vents. I think that would look cool with the light from the LEDs coming out the vents as well. Keep in mind that clear airbox covers tend to crack much easier around the mount holes. Check this if you purchase used and be careful whether you buy new or used. I would not over-torque and I would definitely always use the little plastic washers. |

The airbox cover off any 06+ XB will bolt right on. The 2003-05 covers and the 1125 covers don't have the vent by the gas cap, but if you are willing to modify it you can make it work. |

American Sport Bike doesn't sell the OEM cover, so you will have to look elsewhere. They are still available brand new at a Buell dealer for $220ish, or you can get one used here in the classifieds or ebay. |

For the clear ones, I recall "Hero Blue", "Valencia Orange", a red one ("Cherry Red?"), and a smoked one. They do look very cool, I had an XB9SX with the Hero Blue. There are some downside though, the material is a lot less durable than the solid colors. If you so much as splash fuel on it, it will go to a matte finish, and you are looking at 20 minutes to an hour with Novus 3,2,1 to get it clear again. And where the screws hold the airbox down, you have to always be VERY careful to have all the right washers and screws and to make sure the holes are centered before torquing to the right spec, otherwise the cover material will crack or squish and you will eventually start breaking mounting points. But they do look REALLY cool. I'm sure they will stop producing the clear stuff (maybe they already have) before they stop producing the colored stuff, so if you think you may ever want it, you probably want to snatch it up now. |

Yea the colors were Hero Blue, Valencia Orange, Cherry Bomb and Kick Ash. As Reep said they they are more fragile then the standard ones but they are pretty unique I have a full Blue and Full Ash Set and have been looking for a used Cherry bomb Airbox if anyone is willing to part with one. |
