I'm seriously considering buying a 2008 XB12scg. I went and saw the bike tonight and it looks really clean overall.

The bike cranked right over and idled fine. After letting it idle for a minutes, I gave the throttle small blips (on at a time). The engine would almost hesitate/cough.

Is that something I should worry about? What could be the cause? The bike is an early 2008, I heard there is an ECU reflash or fix?

Thanks all!

That is normal, it is a long stroke twin with a very heavy flywheel. Proper tuning/Race ECM can help reduce it a bit, but it is just the nature of the beast. They don't like to be blipped, and given that it is fuel injected with a computer controlled idle, it doesn't need blipping anyway. : )

Oh, well I'm glad to hear that (I think?). It surprised me that it did it on the first (small) blip. I'd never been on a bike that did that.

Are there any "must do" fixes/mods that I should perform on a 2008? Any recalls I need to be aware of?

Thanks Froggy!

Honestly I recommend keeping them as stock as possible, they are pretty good right out of the box. The only real must do thing is to get the Race ECM from Erik Buell Racing. The stock fueling is EPA compliant, and is ok, but the Race ECM significantly improves things beyond just the fuel maps.
