Thank god it wasn't fast. Went to turn left into my complex, always dirt present into the turn, so i went wide and turned quick so I could go in straight up for the dirt. Lady behind me tried to pass on the right, when i leaned over I went into her SUV's fender and tire. Some road rash and a busted up elbow. What I am looking for is someone in the Phoenix, AZ area to direct me to a shop that will give my bike the tender loving care it deserves. The HD dealership in Tucson, AZ is a joke, and there isn't much Buell support around. Please help.

I don't Think so. I am still healing from the road rash obviously, but my elbow is hurting when extending. I am hopeful that it will clear up but i'm no spring chicken anymore. I work in the dental field, so really small, detailed, steady movements are important. I'm a little concerned. We will see.

Man, I wouldn't take mine to anyone but me. I've been to most dealerships in the Phoenix area and none have given my baby real service. Whats wrong with yours? Glad your not too bad off!

try Arrowhead HD, up in Peoria, on the west side.
chandler HD, and Snottsdale HD both have VERY bad reputations.
After you get your estimate, PM me and I'll give you the number to a former certified Buell mechanic, in Phoenix, that can do the work, if you would like.

Progressive let me do it up myself. They send an adjuster out and inspected it while it was still in my fathers pickup. Not sure how he got the numbers and whatnot but he had detailed list of what costs what with part numbers, checked off things that needed replacement, then after that we factored in towing and other expenses. I had to fax him some receipts for things like my Micron exhaust and Wave brake rotor, but I had a check in the mail not much long later. Fixed the bike as cheap as I could with used mismatched parts, then and used the remainder for a nice payment on my 1125CR.

I explained to my agent that I have two wheels and really didn't trust others to work on my bike,State Farm let me do my own work. They just needed a printed copy of the cost for parts. The adjuster was great, even threw in extra for the helmet and jacket replacement, jacket was fine, helmet did get replaced. I'd suspect that in the long run, it saves the insurance company money because they don't have to pay the ridiculous labor cost that the dealers charge. I'd ask your insurance agent and explain why you don't want somebody else working on your bike. It couldn't hurt, asking that is, doing the work might

You shouldn't need an estimate from the dealer for the insurance settlement. Make a detailed list of EVERYTHING that has any little mark or scuff from the accident. Be honest, but fussy. For example, my right bag was pretty beat up when I got my Uly used. My left bag cover was crushed in my accident. I demanded the right bag cover be replaced, but specifically told the adjuster NOT to include the damage to the right bag.

I had a detailed list with photos. The adjustor came and I just handed him my detailed list, and he checked off each item and took a worse picture of it. So my list effectively became his list.

We argued about a few things, but they were things that he wanted to put on, but that I wanted left off because they were pre-existing damage. I wanted compensation for the damage their insured driver did to my bike, I did NOT want to commit insurance fraud.

In the end it didn't matter, the damage was way over the "total it" settlement.

The advantage to the dealer is that it takes a long time to take it apart and find all the damage. It's a good chunk of work. If you will be having the dealer do the work anyway, you will be paying him or her to take it apart regardless, so let them do it.

The disadvantage is if you are going to do the work yourself, or if you are going to end up totaling the bike out anyway (which can happen without a lot of damage). In that case, you are just throwing away pretty expensive labor $$.

I got really lucky with my crash repair. The parts total was right under the "total it" value, so the insurance paid for everything. After I put the bike back together, a small fuel leak showed up from a very small crack in the frame, and the insurance company covered the frame replacement under a supplemental claim. If I discovered the crack in the original review, the bike would have been totaled and I would have been very unhappy!

Hey,
There is an ex Buell tech that seems really good, my bike is with him now. He has been very fair and honest with me about costs, time etc. I can txt you his #. I don't know if he wants it on the open board. I think he may be opening his own shop soon.
He is in Phoenix.
