I'm currently looking at installing Hepco and Becker Side bags for my XB9SX. I'm looking at either the Junior bag or maybe the Journey bags. The Junior comes as either 30 or 40 lt while the Journey comes as 42 lt. Was wonder if anyone has those and could tell me how they fit or maybe another brand of equal size.

Also, for those with the Hepco and Becker bags. Between the Junior and Journey how is the storage, riding with them on, and keeping the water out?

I have the Journeys on my 09 Uly. They hold a full face helmet easily. I've never noticed any major handling issues at high speeds but they leak. When the bike was under warranty my dealer had them replaced. The new ones leak too. I still like them, people at the grocery store are amazed at the amount of stuff they hold.

I have the H&B brackets w/ Journey bags, as well as a Ventura Rack w/ top case, on my 2003 XB9S. I did a ride from DC to SF and back to DC, which included riding through some of the worst TStorms I've ever experienced. No problems whatsoever. I highly recommend this set-up.

We've got journeys on our Uly XT and they do leak a little. Searching for a solution, we experimented with cheap zippered plastic (almost tarp-like material) bags from IKEA to use as liners when carrying stuff that needed to stay clean/dry. They've worked great! Not the most attractive things with the striped or floral pink patterns, but they were $2 apiece and have taken a whole lot of abuse since we started using them in March. They fit in our Uly X givi bags as well, and are all intact after thousands of miles.

When I did not have covered parking this summer and knew there was a chance it was gonna rain, I tossed my XL sized m/c cover over the bike, and the stuff in the journey bags stayed bone dry.

Once you get set up with hard bags, its hard to imagine living without them!

I just pulled the Juniors off my STT for a change. Having a KLR with the full Pelican treatment I don't really need the Buell to have them full time.

I think it looks better and is not as hot due to better air flow...mainly my legs and butt.

BUT I can slap them back on in a few if I need them. NOW if I buy that Ural Gear Up I'm looking at I may give up on BOTH bikes having bags...the sidecar is rated for 400 POUNDS! That's a LOT of beer and chips!

I have the juniors on my uly and love them. They are a bit smaller than what I had been used to on BMWs but I have gotten used to them. They absolutely don't leak. I think they are available in a larger size maybe a 35 or 40 liter as well.

Thanks for more info. Birdy, do you have a pick of what you did to make them fit?
