On another note, I'm not sure how much I'll like owning the bike after the first week of needing to fill it up every 60 miles. That tank can't be more than a gallon and a half given how small it looks. | ||

Actually, there are two tanks. Ons is the traditional tank, and the other is if front of the rear shock. The total capacity will be slightly lower than it is on the XB | ||

Right know, the bike is already standing. We are working on the fibers. In a while all the wires will be ready and it will be time to start testing the bike. Something about this question has me thinking fatal flaw.NO disrespect!! The engine will be contained by the swingarm pivot,the rear iso and the front iso? Adequate? Love the concept! Hi Ducxl, no problems at all with what you mention. If you see previous pics from the frame all the isolator system, it is the same than the XB. Front isolator, back isolator and the tie-bars. It works great on the XB and it will do the same here. I agree that the XB engine is the best of the sportster family. | ||

Hi again; I'm happy to show you this pictures, the BOTT XR-1 project continues going ahead. The base of the bike is already built and currently we are working on the fibers (fueltank, seat and front numberplate). Now we enter a phase of the project in which details are very important. The final version of this BOTT XR-1 first unit will have a lot of special parts: a silencer coming from the race kit (the unit of the photos is the standard one), we will change the handlebar, wheels, brake pump, brake lines… etc.     I hope you like the pictures. just curious are you going to put a front fender on there or are you going to at least cut those fender brackets off of the forks? also this is just my opinion but I think a better looking pipe would make all the difference. something like a ss drummer since you are not going to hide the pipe with a chin fairing. The pipe we will use is the new Torque Hammer, made by Twinmotorcycles. They make great pipes that together with their ECM tunning, you get excellent engine power and at the same time take care of your engine. I will upload new pics with it soon. Right now we are still working on details, tech issues and aesthetics. We will definitely need a front fender in order to make it street legal. We are enjoying so much!!!!! ))) | ||

It would be great to branch out into any of the Rotax engines since it would bring the design away from an engine that is no longer produced. I think it would also be great to see something designed around a garden variety Japanese engine, maybe something like the 600cc Suzuki S40 (like the Ryca cafe), just a cheap source of parts. | ||

I wonder how rigid that frame design is , going from a twin spar type with multiple engine bracing (Buell) , to a single piece of tubing running over the top of the engine . You dont see any race bike frames like that , they are mostly trellis type or twin spar , w/engine as a stressed member . (Message edited by kdogshirow on August 28, 2011) | ||

Thanks Brother_in_buells, right now we are fully focus on that XB engine. However, for the future who knows, everything is possible. The solution for the Throttle body still has to be implemented. As soon as it is ready I will upload the pictures. Hi Greg_e, the point is that I wanted a V Twin engine with huge torque but easy to drive. Some other engines could be used depending on the personality you want to get for the bike. Kdogshirow, the issue you mention has been deeply analyzed. You can see in the previous page a render of the frame. It has tie bars that avoids torsional flex. This tie bars are connected to the frame like the XB frame. Together with the frame dimensions and strength, it will be more than enough. | ||

Hi Alex, I mean that on the XB, the throttlebody stands up and in the XR-1 is laying down. You can also see the previous page where I explain this issue. And also, it is needed a special support for the air filter. | ||

I'd go with a carb conversion. FI is nice, but I'll almost always take a mechanical device over electronics. Looking forward to the finished product. | ||
