I received my new Ventura Bag this week from American Sport Bike. I am going to go on a mini trip tomorrow to test it out, until then....here are some pictures:

Lookin good brother. I'm heading out on a SoCal Area Buell (SCAB) ride Sunday and plan on strapping my tank bag on my 12R. Once you get used to the bag being there, you'll wonder why you didn't get one sooner. Enjoy the ride man.

Its a great bag, your gonna love it. Only real downside is that its not waterproof, so I recommend you pack your clothes and valuables in ziplock or garbage bags.

Thanks for the heads-up Froggy. Rain is in the forecast today....do you think putting a garbage bag over the entire bag would be the best thing to do for a big trip?

Thanks,
Nick

I never tried that, Assuming you secure it good it shouldn't blow away. I usually have multiple bags with me anyway to segregate the clean stuff from dirty, and to prevent things like toothpaste making a mess if it breaks.

Another tip, I used some antisieze on the part of the rack that goes into the L brackets, it will make it easier to install and remove if you want to swap to the little rack or grab handle. I used the antisieze cause I had some extra spewing out of my axle, but I assume anything similar would work.

Thanks Froggy. Before I installed any of the rack options or grab handle, I made sure to use vaseline. It definitely makes swapping out the racks and grab handle a lot easier.

I have the Ventura 51 liter bag system for both my XB9SX and 1125R. Love the system and bags. Just got done ordering 2 more 51 liter bags to give me and my wife added space for travels here in Europe.

Been using a Ventura bag for 13 years now. Have always kept it well-treated with silicon water proofing spray. Have ridden through mucho rain. No problem.

Use a hydroseal bag or equivalent as liner just in case.

To avoid tearing off the tie-downs, run the straps straight down and around the rung immediately below instead of around the next one back.

Thanks for the pointers Blake. I'll move the straps and get some water proofing spray.

I have one and really like it. Love that it comes on and off so easy. But one question, I thought it was supposed to sit on top of horizontal part? Does it matter?

I prefer mine over the seat as well. I feel that in the normal position it blocks the brake light from those 8' tall SUVs that are so popular here in Dallas.

Does anyone just sell the sport rack separately, without the bag?

I've gone on extended solo rides on my 9R (and 1125R - same rack fits both) with the standard rack/grab handle mounted facing forward over the passenger seat and the Ventura bag laying horizontally. Makes for a more aero profile while strafing twisties. ; )

As I understand it, the bags can go in front of or behind the rack. Or both: you can get 102 litres of storage (!) with back-to back bags. I would think your mass would stay better centralized with the weight of the bag in, over the seat, instead of hanging out the back more.

Nvr2old, I got one for the wife direct from Ventura. You can buy whatever pieces you want. She's very happy with her's.
