Did you perform a TPS reset after installing the Race ECM?

the shop had my bike for some major oil leak repair, and since they had the engine out , I gave the parts to throw on the bike. thay claim to have done a TPS reset, but it would not idle..

I guess I could give it a shot on monday but they kept the TPS reset sheet.. im sure I can pull it online..

on top of tps reset it needs to learn the afv as well. get it running and do a 15 min ride at a consistent throttle. Then check Idle rpm...

I tried to install my Erik Buell Racing ECM this weekend too, but my bike wouldnīt idle either. Riding it was virtually impossible cause it just died on me all the time. Tried to do the TPS reset all over again but had serious problems to get a reading on the idle speed adjuster and ended up unscrewing it. Donīt ask how easy it was to get it back... Now iīm gonna bite the bullet and let the stealer do the TPS reset, although it hurts...

Ive been in contact with Tech Support at Erik Buell Racing, he says that my neutral light problem may be in my harness, and that in itself may be the cause of the ECM not working. Im not sure if the shop did the reset right, so I will try that again first. my neutral light never works when the bike is hot, but is fine when its cold. so the tech at Erik Buell Racing suggested this:

Sounds like a wiring harness issue where the wires maybe are just making contact when cold and pull apart as the harness gets warm? Never heard of it before.

That wire goes right from the sensor to the cluster through the interlock system (so you can’t start the bike in gear with the clutch lever out).

It could be an intermittent with the light in the cluster too. Checking continuity with a meter when the bike is having the problem may point to where the damaged wire is, or looking for high resistance, the latter may even show up cold.

There is not a lot of wire in that circuit, you should be able to find it without re-harnessing the bike. But if you go to a dealer that is most likely what they would do...

so hopefully I dont have to go that far..
crossing my fingers, I will find out early tomorrow as I forgot the damn ECM this morn..

Boca, i donīt think the dealer got the TPS reset right.
I actually did it last night but it took me two attempts before i made it. You will know when, cause the bike runs like total crap when reset fails and when itīs done correct it runs decent and actually idles.
Iīd say you should retry the TPS reset.

Ok, so the paperwork that Erik Buell Racing sent me with the new ECM gives the TPS reset, but nowhere on the sheete does it talk about using software. from what Ive been reading, it seems that I need ECM SPY and a cable in order to Reset my ECM on my 07, only 08 and above are user friendly. You might think that would be included on the paperwork they send from Erik Buell Racing..

wtf
