In my opinion, my 9S w/race kit feels "punchier" than my buddy's stock 12R. We're neck and neck off the line. No way can I keep up on the highway though. The 12R is a f'kin rock on the highway. I'm talking you could let go of his bars at 100 mph. My other buddy's 9R handles well on the highway also. I need to take a 12S for a demo ride: )

If you're looking to get the bike on the track as a racer I'd go 9 and consider all the exhaust options. The 9, with a shorter stroke, allows a faster piston speed... so, with the correct mods you can make better top-end Hp. For urban assault riding and mountain shredding, where bottom-end torque and a flatter torque and Hp curves make for more fun, it is the 12.

At a recent brag event in vallejo HD/Buell in CA they were doing free dynos on buells. I got 75hp with a race kit and 12 airbox and 23K miles. I dont know what was off.. but my curve line was wavy the whole way. Alot of people with XB9's got real smooth lines with no dips with 80HP on race kits. The highest 9R I saw got 85hp with the new ti-force exhaust which was owned by a performance shop guy. Anyhow after riding a XB12 and seeing how they put out between 85-93rwhp.. Id take a 12 anyday over a 9. I still love my 9 my only complaint is when your in 5 gear and you find your self full throttle. It happens a little to often, That was never a problem on my old X1.

We're gonna have to trade off, so you can prove that theory. Just kidding, I ve ridden both, and like mine just fine. The 12 cuts off too soon, but if I had one I'd learn it I'm sure. But as far as which one you should buy. Who knows but you? You in luck though, you can do test ride after test ride to pick the one you like best. Try that at your local Hondasaki dealer.

I had a 9s w/ racekit, 12 box etc, nice...until
I road a 12r on Demo Days, well I now own a black 12r..it pulls like a mother, power wheelie
in second, true it has a shorter redline, but i've gotten used to that, and it'll SMOKE my
buddies Triumph Sprint ST....not that I'd do something like that, just wait'n for a Drummer, or something else (D&D) also by the end of the next winter , someone will come up with a tweek
to bump that redline a tad, betcha

It's stroked, can't do much when it comes to piston speed. Punch a 9 to a 12, keep the revs, that would be a fun bike!!!!!

Torqer I like your answer!!! If you like the curves, I think it's about 70% rider and 30% bike. A few months back Glitch and I had a couple of bikes come up on us really quick, they were on Glitch's tail, we let them by the rider on the duck shaved me a little and then I let the rider on the duck feel what its like to have someone on his .He and I knew it was on,We were on 60 going north above the fire house, after the short set of twisties there is that semi-long hard right that gos downhill. He went wide,I backed off a little,he hit the brakes the bike stood up, He made a great recovery. We got to the gas station ,He was one big dude!! We talked,he was pretty cool about the hole thing, said that buell pretty quick,I said thanks I like it!!!I wanted to say "I'm quicker than you think you are" Like the t-shirt,Joey-M was there on his R1 "biker club M.O.B racing.Former club racer.Very cool guy,but he would put me in my spot.So with nothing to prove I shut my mouth.
