I have an 04xb12s and have put over 30,000 miles on it with no problems. The bike actually runs better now than new. I feel the 04 and 05 years are the best. Very few problems with them overall. I would not trade mine for a newer one!

I have an 05 XB12R with 17k on the clock. No problems at all.

Dan, as you probably are aware, the bikes have been updated over the years. Some of the updates were general improvements like better fuel injection, while some others like beefier wheel bearings to prevent failures. Many of the changes from over the years can easily be retrofitted.

Also good news is, if you do have any problem, someone else here already has had it happen so we can help with a solution.

I have an 04 xb12s and I love it. I had the clutch control cable snap on me at 4500 miles but other than that I've had no issues at all. The only thing I don't like about this year is the amount of fuel it holds.

The oil pump drive pinion gear is something to watch on the earlier XBs. The new brass gear can be retrofitted though, just like with the tubers.

At 47k on my 05 mine was worn to a knife edge. Approaching 60k now and no other problems.

I think you would be much happier with an 08!!! Or maybe it is because I'm trying to sell one. : )
I had an 04 it was great as is the 08. Oil pump, ignition, etc on the 08 can not be retrofitted to pre 08 bikes

Front sprocket nut (or compensator) may not be torqued properly from the factory.

My '04 runs better than any of my Buells.

It's been problem free so far, although I only have about 6k miles on it.

Heh heh. My 05 HAD 6k miles once..............once. It seems the 04/05s get 45+ mpg too. I get 52 while flogging her. At 2500 into an oil change, it goes down to 48 or so, so I change it at 2000. Buy it, and have fun.

have had my 04 xb12r with 18.5k on it for just about a year. Only problem i had was the cam sensor. Just got back from filling it up and got 48 mpg, prob would of got better but that was doing 70+ down the highway and about a half hour of riding around town. I also have a 2000 x1 millennium and have ALOT of issues with it. Seemed like i would ride it for a weekend and would be waiting for parts for a week.
