Howdy! My 2008 XB12STT has 6200 miles and is due for its first rear tire. The rear axle removed easily, and had anti-size on it. I think this is the first time the axle has been removed, since new.

The rear wheel bearing has a slight bit of roughness (notchy feeling) to it in some areas of rotation. It does not have any play in it, or any damage to the rubber seals and seems clean. Does this seem ok? Just keep an eye on it?

Also the swing arm has a slight bit of back and forth play in it. Can that be adjusted, or is that to be expected?

I have a copy of a service manual for an earlier XB12, can I use the torque specs for it on my TT?
Thank you very much!

Replace the bearing. It should be smooth everywhere. I'd bet failure is imminent. I can't really speak to the swing arm. Mine has no play (XB12X) with the tire mounted, but there is some flex from either tine (but no play) with the tire and brace off. I don't know whether your swing arm is built in a similar fashion to mine.

Final rear wheel torque on my Uly after the back-off is 48 - 52 ft-lbs and 40 - 45 for the pinch bolt. If that is the same as your XB12 manual, you should be good on your TT. I'd be very surprised if there were a difference since the wheel assembly is the same.
