ECM is different - 2008 is DDFI3, 2005 is DDFI2. Some differences in sensors and controls - so you're talking new harness and ECM. I think everything else is almost direct bolt-in.

How close are you to Dris and Bud at www.twinmotorcycles.nl ? They KNOW these machines better than many.

You will need-W frame bracket (holds 08 style oil cooler and voltage regulator), fuel pump, ECM, wire harness, voltage regulator, throttle cables, velocity stack boot for throttle body, oil cooler and oil lines to cooler,08 style swingarm, oil lines to swingarm.
I'm sure I left some small things out, but I built a few in the last couple of years....this was by memory..

He can get away with the old swingarm if he uses custom oil lines.

The motors are vastly different between the two years, including one using a crank position sensor, while the other uses a cam sensor to do the timing. The heads are the same between both motors, but everything else is different including the oiling system, cases, crankshaft, and most of the internals. It will not be an easy swap unless you get all the 2008 electronics.
