So today the low fuel lamp decided to get goofy. Didn't come on, then for a bit, then back off. All other lamps work. I look up the p.n. for a new lamp in the service manual and it says to "Replace instrument cluster if low fuel warning lamp fails." Is this really necessary? I called a local shop, $275 for the cluster. Is there any harm in simply keeping an eye on the f - trip. I generally know my mileage and when to start looking. Also, it was running pretty hot being in downtown traffic... Thanks all. | ||

The gas light is an LED and not a separate bulb. Are you sure its the cluster and not the fuel level sensor? | ||

Well, the f-trip was counting, about .4mi when I noticed it (since I was watching for it). I would guess l.e.d. since the mileage and f-trip match up with my avg tank. | ||

If you are just low enough on gas to trigger the sensor, it will flip into F-trip and start counting. If you make a turn and it splashes on the sensor, it can cool off enough to turn the light off for another minute, but the f-trip will keep counting. The light will come back on in another minute. | ||

Everything seems to be in order. Fired it up, put the gear on and in the couple of minutes it took me, the lamp was on and stayed constant to the fuel station. Good info, thanks to all.  |
