Hello everyone, I need some help with this. I'm sure that someone has done it and I did do some searching. I have all of the wiring worked out I'm just not sure on how or where to mount the PODS and how much heat the wires can take. Any help would be great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M8zniD3u4o | ||

i couldn't make my self watch your video for more than 30 sec. but don't put those pods in your headlight bezels. they will melt. and be careful with teh headers. a good place to mount the switch is in under the rider seat, behind the fan in the plastic piece. don't forget to illuminate teh holes in teh tail section. | ||

Thanks I already have a place to mount the switches. It was in the video.   Well I Mounted 2 pods plus the light that were already on my bike and took it for a 30 mile ride. I did some back roads with stop signs on the way out and took the freeway back. Of course I didn't have any power going to the PODs because I wanted to see how hot they would get and see if the wires would melt. The below picture is with all of the lights on. The two pods are connected to a 12v mini box after I got back to make sure that every thing is ok. I'm not going to connect it to the new switches until maybe Wednesday. I'm going to ride to work all week to see what moves or comes lose or melts and I don't want any power from my bike going through there. Anyways I just have to defuse them and they should be good to go if the wires and pods hold up.  | ||

How much heat can you stand? That's the question.LOL Seriously though.I am not sure of California laws but I got a $185.00 for using two small green lights on a vehicle/car.I see them guys all over town with lights similar to what you have there and it really gets me.You know it is one of those scenarios where the Police do not always enforce the law I just happen to get lucky.haha I just felt I should at least warn you of this but from what I have gathered you are only allowed red/amber in the rear and amber/white up front.In some states they consider using blue or red lights up front impersonating an emergency vehicle which CAN result into serious charges.Hopefully that will never happen to you but at least you can't say you weren't warned.Your bike does look really cool.Safe journeys,Lesley | ||

Boliver, Thanks for the input and yeah I know that the blue is used by cops, but I did some looking around and as long as the light is defused which I'm going to be doing some time this week it's "suppose" to be ok. But then again I'm going to have the blue lights on a different switch and I only plan on turning them on when the bike is parked which is legal. Only the red in the back is going to be on when I ride. I've been using the Red in the back with soft blue on the inside for about 5 months and I've spoken to a lot of cops and they say that that was legal. Plus one of the cops said that he thought the Red was factory since they had no clue what the bike was. =) Thanks everyone for your help. KG | ||

Looks good dude!! I been wanting to do amber/orange to illuminate my full fairing. Any color besides red/blue is now legal on bikes in Maryland thanks to law passed last year. Where did you go for the pods? Better than the strips? | ||

Be mindful when mounting the switch set in that side opening. When the fan comes on, some of the hot air is directed that way, the air can be fairly hot and possibly cause your switches to deform. | ||

Ahhhh good catch Rsh, Thanks =) Didn't test for that. I'll run a test later and then again tomorrow. I hope to have everything sorted out by Wednesday night because there is a few Bike Nights going on and I want my Buell to look good. =) | ||

The opening your gonna put the switch in is actually important for the fan to be able to move air out away from the back of the engine, (its there for a reason), I personally wouldn't block it off. It gets quite hot in that area, with the fan on, and to block off one of the few places it can vent from isn't best. Just my common 2 cents, The lights look very cool though, nice job. | ||

=) Thanks, Yeah Rsh brought that to my attention. I'm thinking it though now. =) I was going to but it there because it was easy an out of the way. =( | ||

here is a small , alternative, that wont take away from your look (imo), keeping in mind, one of the advantages to led's is .. they do not use much current, so small switches are an option, (not true with incandecnt bulbs), all those leds added together still wont blow up a fairly small switch with too much current draw.  |
