Anybody used these from American Sport Bike? Any good?

These will be my 4th set of pads in 12,000 miles... Pretty crazy, I go through pads quicker than some people go through tires ahaha.

Anyways...

I have used OEM, Lyndall and EBC. The latter two I have used at the track as well. I wanted to try the Ferodo's...

Given that I seem to be pretty abusive when it comes to front braking (rear pads look brand new, but they dont work well at all, can't even lock them up on dry pavement)... what should I do to the rotor?

Any sort of polishing etc... to get deposits off or just run the new pads?

Is the rotor spotted with deposits? Any pulsation? If not, I'd say to mic the disc to make sure you are still within spec. If you're good, clean the surface with acetone and install the new pads.

If you have some pulsation, you can try a rotor hone. You need to be careful with these things as you can easily damage the rotor, but they work well if applied properly in the right circumstances. If you don't have the hone, some pads will clean up what previous pads leave behind. In some cases, this doesn't work. Not sure about Ferodo. In either case, follow the pad manufacturer's bedding instructions as closely as possible for the best performance and longevity.

Is this for the six or eight pot caliper? If for the eight, let us know how you like them. I was thinking of trying them but bought EBC's instead.

8 pot, they come Monday, I'll let you know.

EBC was really great at first but I feel like the feel and power slowly went away with time, it still took a solid squeeze at the track to get it to slow quickly.

No pulsation so I'll just acetone and measure spec.

Sounds good. I'll be at the track next week for the first time on the EBC setup...along with a plethora of other brake system updates. Will be interested in hearing how the Ferodos work for you.

If you want to "blueprint" the braking system, then you may want to look at these.

Don't know if your MC is a radial or not, but that's a significant upgrade to brake feel.

Also make sure your pistons come out evenly when you apply the brakes - that's a problem with multi-piston calipers. This can turn your brakes from so-so to "holy cr*p!". Make sure you check that during a pad swap.

Front brakes typically last 10,000 miles for me, and most of my driving is commuting...

I assume you're using sintered rather than organic pads as well...

EBC were at half wear when I got to the track, nothing amazing but much better than the Lyndalls. Less fade.

Actually now that I look back I actually had two trackdays on the EBC but first was in February so I didn't get as aggressive with braking... cold track.

If all the pistons don't come out evenly whats the fix?

If they dont come out even, rebuild the caliper, because something is sticking..

There's the rebuild "fix", or you can try do an intensive cleaning.

Hose down caliper well with non-chlorinated brake cleaner (cover EVERYTHING painted). Use a soft brush (toothbrush), work up the debris gently and use brake cleaner again - focus on the seals around the pistons. Then apply the brakes to have the pistons move out a bit - you may need to put a block of wood across some of the pistons if one is stuck. Then clean the pistons with the toothbrush and more cleaner. Push the pistons back in and see if it works evenly now. If it does, do a brake fluid flush. If not, a rebuild is in order.

One cause of a stuck piston is debris from brake dust or residual fork fluid that forms a goop between the piston and seal.

Thanks! I'll give them a once over with the brake cleaner after getting the old pads out and then see if they all come out at the same rate before I put the Ferodo's on... And I'll be sure and let you guys know how the new pads do.
