I have a brand new (700 miles) 2009 1125CR-red, and I am thinking about trading straight across, at a dealership, for a 2010 XB12Ss.

The XB felt much more comfortable to me than my CR, with more leg room and higher bars and even the seat was better!

I have never rode and XB, so it's hard to know if I'd be satisfied with it, over the CR.

I'd appreciate some opinions from people that have owned or do own both!

Thanks, Sam

i have an 2007 XBscg and a 2010 CR. im sat a lot lower on the XB and it feels more comfortable, as the seat is a better shape then the CR's although i have cut the CR seat down a bit, and intend to reshape it some more yet. however im not uncomfortable on the CR, its just a different riding position.

i have ridden 600 miles in one day on my XB, not sure if i could do the same on the CR

riding wise the engine my XB feels more 'relaxed' as its turning a lower revs, but its still quick.

depends what kind of riding you do,most of mine is tight twisty corners where the XB is just as quick as the CR.

i bought the CR because i wanted one. different bikes, but thats good

I have only test ridden a CR but have 4 XB's in the garage. The CR has more power for sure although the XB is very fast in the corners as well. The XB's seem to be a little less cramped than the CR's which will probably work towards your advantage if you ride any kind of distance on an average outing. The big decision here seems to be a trade for better comfort vs. more overall power. I have personally ridden with guys whom own a new CR and they are very fast bikes for sure, but I do 90% of my riding in the twisty's and enjoy the more relaxed power delivery from my XB's. It allows me to concentrate on other important aspects of the ride such as brake timing, body positioning, line selection etc... while inputting a calibrated power delivery without breaking the back tire loose at extreme lean angles. The forgiving personality of the 1203 engine raises the performance factor for me in these aforementioned respects. This is only my opinion, and I also agree with Mtch...Hope this helps...Ride safe.

I've been scolded for posting my opinions, so I won't this time. I will say though, keep the CR. If you can swing it, also pick up the SS, but it by no means is a replacement.

Well alrighty Froggy, I'll weigh in on this for my first time. CR is the better machine. If you need more room, change the bars and pegs and ride for miles. I have an XT and still say the CR is the way to go. Don't worry about having too much power, or top end, or a sixth gear, or having a shift slow your 0 to 60 time. How many bearings in your rear wheel? The XB has 2. How am I doing Froggy? Lug lug lug at less than 2500 rpm. Yep the XB does. Don't get me wrong, I like my Uly, But what bike did Slick win on last year?

The irony here is this is the EXACT thought process Buell was hoping to instill in potential riders. A day late and a dollar short...

One of the things I did for comfort on my 1125R was I installed the XBS pegs. They drop your feet about an inch. It certainly helped.

I did the same thing with my pegs and that 1 inch drop certainly helped. The bars and seat on the XB12Ss that I sat on really felt good though, so if I keep my CR, I'm going to have the higher bars installed ASAP. 2 inch dropped pegs are also available now!!!!!!

See my post on this topic in the "1125R Superbike" forum.

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions!!!

Take care! Sam
